  1. So I want to put some basic decals on my helmet and need some advice. I'm not telling exactly what I'm trying to do; it's a surprise The part I need help with is stripes. What sort of materials should I use? I was thinking vinyl tape or something, but I don't know anything about this sort of thing. Autozone has 1/4" pinstriping tape that comes in the colors I need, but I was hoping to get something wider than that. I need some in white, red, and black. I suppose their black and white options would work, but I need a thicker red (preferably 1" or 1.5"). Can anyone else who has done any decal work throw any suggestions out? I don't really want to spend a ton of money; this is just a fun little project that won't even be permanent; just last for a few months tops. I'm considering just hitting up all the craft/hobby shops I can think of, as well as places like Autozone and seeing if they happen to have anything, but if anyone has any sure-fire solutions, that'd make things much easier. Thanks!
  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again; if a company did a helmet up with a "The Wall" theme, I'd drop a pretty chunk of change on it in a heartbeat. I'm not going to hold my breath though.
  3. Do over 65 MPH on 33 between Columbus and Lancaster.
  4. You're absolutely right. It will fall. But not because of some privately owned businesses changed their company policy because of a union. It will fall because of a destroyed currency, a shattered economy, neglected boarders, an overextended military, and an uninformed and uninterested people. It will fall because of people like you shouting "AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!" any time you feel the need to be "patriotic", but at the same time turning a blind eye to the egregious abuses of power by our own government. Catering to a minority on private issues? Shit, we best get out the pitchforks and torches and lynch us some un-Amuricans. But hey, when our pals at the Fed continue to destroy the value of the money in YOUR POCKET in order to bail out the very people who are sending you bills every month, then that's ok. Because, hey, if the Government does it, it must be a good thing, right? Distracted, disinterested, lazy citizens that allow a rapidly expanding and broken government to destroy our currency, invade our privacy, steal from its people, imprison its own citizens, and start illegal and unncessesary wars will destroy this country. Multi-culturalism, open-mindedness, and a true belief in FREEDOM will not. Read some books, stay up to date on world events (and not by simply trusting in talking heads on Fox News and other "news" sources), get a good sense of history, and GET INVOLVED if you want to be a true patriot and a good citizen. Question authority. A government "of the people, by the people, for the people" is an impossibility if the people are too distracted and lazy to even bother thinking for themselves. If you aren't outraged, you havn't been paying attention. P.S. I'm deeply curious as to what morals this nation "should be brought back to".
  5. So this 'rat bike' thing is new to me, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that it means a bike that looks sort of junky, but tastefully and intentionally junky. Am I in the ballpark?
  6. I was sitting at the end of my driveway waiting for a truck to pass before I pulled onto the road. The driver yelled "FAGGOT!" out the window. It didn't bother me in the least, because I recognized the guy. He used to ride the same school bus as me; I was one of 3 private school kids on a bus full of public school kids, so we were automatically the nerds. He has somehow held a grudge this long, and felt the need to try to insult me However, he can call me whatever he wants: I'm a successful college student on my way to a career and a good future, and he's still living in the same shithole he was born into, may or may not have his GED, and is driving a run-down pickup and apparently doing half-assed landscaping work. I win
  7. If only we had some like...race tracks around here. One in the MIDdle of Ohio. Or maybe a drag strip up in Norwalk; that seems like a good location.

    NEO Cruisers

Unless the 27th ride is in the evening, I can't make it :\ I won't get out of work until 6:30
  9. Arg, made it to 29 and died by walking right into the first spike. I feel like an idiot :|

Nice bike and welcome to the boards I ride a sportbike but I have nothing against cruisers (except harleys); I almost bought one as my first bike but something about the ninja was just too much to pass up. I'm in Summit county and always up for a ride, as long as I'm not working. Shoot me a message on the boards if you ever wanna get a ride together.
  11. What kind of security did you have on the bike? I'm not trying to be a dick and go "well there's your problem", but it'd be nice to get an idea of how dedicated the bike thieves are down in the area. I'm getting sort of paranoid about leaving my bike at my new house this year...
  12. I used to have my brights on whenever I rode, but one day I was following my buddy back from Quaker Stake (not bike night...just hungry ) while he was in his Ranger. When we got back home he goes "HOLY CRAP can your lights be any more annoying?!". I didn't think my brights were that bright, but apparently they are bad enough at night that I need to be just as conscientious about them on the bike as when I'm in a car. Now I run em during the day, unless I'm right behind somebody so I don't immolate their retinas.
  13. w00t! Finally, some 2-wheeled vehicle love. Now they just need to expand this about 10 fold, and then allow for lane splitting at stoplights and maybe add bike/scooter boxes at the front of lines at lights. But this is a fantastic start. Stuff like this is what makes me like Columbus Also...to anyone who is saying it's a waste of money; I think us riders have paid for this project a hundred times over in bullshit speeding ticket money alone
  14. They couldn't catch any to confiscate.
  15. Definately good to know... I always felt fairly safe on the opposite side of the highway as long as I wasn't doing anything really obviously dangerous. Just one more reason to hate cops when they're on the road I guess
  16. I got nailed for 90 in a 65 (pacing...I think the dude was lying; I wasn't doing 90) down near Lancaster before moving home from OSU for the summer, but I've had no issues with the cops up in the akron/cleveland area yet. I'm going for a long day ride tomorrow in the Canton area, and I'm starting to see all these posts about cops and speeding tickets as one big bad omen staring me in the face. Stay tunes for my impending story, I guess. Also, what's with this stuff about getting pulled over by a cop who is going the opposite direction? I thought they couldn't clock you when they are going the opposite direction?
  17. I hope someone plays those about 5 years down the line when he's in high school or college or whatever. He'll be the most popular guy around, and be getting alllll the ladies
  18. The trackday one summarizes my entire outlook on my future career in the finance world
  19. http://break.com/index/burnout-in-the-living-room.html This is the reason I bought a bike...so I could be the coolest (and smartest) dude at parties. I've got a long way to go though; I don't have those sort of rev-limiter bouncing skillz yet.
  20. Real riders don't need a holiday to push them to ride to work
  21. There are a few of Beck's rants that I enjoy, but for the most part, the man is just another mouthpiece used to distract the masses from the real issues and problems. Wave an American flag around, shout "WE'RE NUMBER ONE!" loud enough, and people will get just enough feel-good "patriotism" to ignore the real issues and get through another day feeling American without actually doing anything to help the country...
  22. I see where you're coming from, but I personally do not want a helmet law. Not because I don't wear a helmet; I've gone without once or twice in the past but now I wear it every time I'm on the bike. I simply feel that the government has no place making these sorts of laws (including seatbelt laws). Yes, it is stupid to ride without a helmet, but it should be a personal choice that each rider makes for him/herself, as it is not something that places others in danger or really affects anyone else. That being said, can anyone tell me what the hell is up with those idiots you see that ride around with their helmet hanging off the side of their bikes from the underseat helmet locks? What is the point of owning a helmet and bringing it with you if it's just going to be a decoration?
  23. That's how I got my last pair, and they were great. However, they only had one pair of this color/model and they were XXS, luckily they fit fairly well. I figured they'd be out by now, as I got these a while ago.
  24. Last week I was moving the bike around the garage and I suppose I bumped the kick stand just enough to put it in the "up" area of its range of motion. As soon as I went to set it back on the stand, it folded up and down the bike went. No damage at all, just a very slight scuff on the bottom of my frame slider that isn't noticible unless you get down on eye level with it. The kickstand punched through the asphalt where I had it parked at my friends house one time too. It was dark and cool out, so I figured that it'd be safe. Apparently, there was a big ant colony under the asphalt and it had hollowed out about a 5" deep area under where my stand was. Again, sliders saved 100% of the damage, and that time my cover kept the slider from getting any scuffs.
  25. Definitely going to have to save this and check it out in the fall. I'm always looking for areas that aren't terribly far from campus to putter around for a bit and enjoy myself when I've got an hour or two to kill.
