I was half seriously thinking of something like this after my crash. Of course I was drugged up high as a kite, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. You would probably want a smooth blade so the deer didn't stick.
Yea, this was designed by a guy who hit a deer and totalled his bike too.

1996 RM250. Ohio Title. No clue on history or what all has been done to it. Starts good & runs fine. $1000 firm or trade for a thumper (4 stroke). I need something less hyper/spastic/dangerous than this. I will kill myself on it.
Only trade I would be interested in is a 4 stroke of same size or larger.
You can test ride if you are serious. You break it, you bought it.

Milage? Is all the wiring intact?
71K miles.Wiring is good except for headlight, front turn signals & clock.

Before I start stripping it to sell parts, I thought I would see if there is any interest in the complete bike. I hit a deer with it Aug. 2nd and the wife says no more bikes (for a while anyway).
The good:
It starts & runs
clean title
The bad:
all front plastics busted.
radiator trashed
rear rim bent
handlebars busted
$1000 with hard bags and what is left of the front plastics (and excellent stock windshield that was not in crash)
$900 as shown in he pictures (I sell off the other stuff)
High resolution detailed pics.

Shoot me a note if interested. Prices are firm as I am already getting hit up for parts off of it.

How did the insurance claim go if you don't mind me asking ?
I only had liability ($28 / year). I was trying to keep everything as cheap as possible to minimize the amount of bitching from the wife. It was a 17 year old bike, but overall a BIG mistake on my part.
Screw up (in order).
- Riding too fast when I hit the deer (yea, it was above 50)
- not wearing my jacket & gloves (too hot)
- not having comprehensive insurance (added $50 / year)

WAHOO!!! The pins are out of my hands!!! I'm giddy!!! (as in happy, not gay)
Wifey still says "uhh, no" when I bring up another bike, but I can use all fingers!!!!! Road rash is nearly completely gone, but hip still hurts.
Yea, I'm that easy to please.
Enjoy your bike while you can, it an become a pile of broken pieces REAL quick!

Sorry to hear about your accident. I had a letter to the editor in The Delaware Gazette regarding ODNR's inability to effectively handle the deer population. Did your accident occur during daylight hours or at night?
That was a good looking ST you had. I ride a black '91 ST myself.
It was right about 5pm. Just a typical day heading home from work like every other day. I started back to work on monday. Hip is doing much better but started having severe rib pain & trouble breathing in the middle of the night on mon night. Had a CT scan but don't know the results yet.
I was feeling relly good until then.
I stopped again at the crash site and stepped it off from the point of impact to where I was laying. Somewhere between 60 - 70 yards. Probaby a damn good thing that I can't remember it.
I have decided to part out the bike, so let me know if anyone needs any ST parts. It did start up after adding oil and cranking for about 5 seconds.
95 hp go cart???? hmmmm........

The deer looks pretty much cut in half to me. Errr.... you didn't happen to get a name and phone number of that lady firefighter for me, did you?
Tom, she is just going to tell you that "Nobody needs more than 1 motorcycle!"
-
This is from the point of impact. The green stuff if all deer crap.
The red spot on the blacktop in the lower right part of the picture is where I was laying.
The deer wasn't ripped in half like I was told, but it was pretty messed up.

These are the 2 sites I use most to find guns for sale locally.

You will have to select Ohio from the list.
Use common sense when meeting with a total stranger who knows you have a lot of cash on you.

Once I get up and around (few weeks) I'll see if it still runs & get with back with you.

Hi all.
Surgery was yesterday with pins in both hands. Left hip hurt like hell so they ran me through an MRI. Hip isn't broken (according to doc), but hip socket, pelvis & tailbone all have fractures. No surgery for them, just keep weight of of them. Road rash is healing pretty quick.
I am still hoping to see pics of the accident scene. Trooper said the deer was ripped in half. I don't remember crap other than a flash of brown, hearing plastic crunching & waking up on pavement.
I honestly don't know that I would be able to enjoy riding again. Saying that I am paranoid about deer now would be an understatement. 2 in cages & this one. The wife says "hell no" about another bike.
Be careful guys, even if you aren't doing anything wrong, the furry little bastards can still try to kill you.

Just heard this morning a co-worker hit a deer with his bike, on Monday night. Probably on the way home from work. He's ok with back rash. More later when I find out.
That would be me.
Going around 50 & trooper said I split the deer in half. Woke up about 50 ft away faceup on the pavement. Don't remember shit but a blur of brown fur and hearing the fairing crunch. Lots of rash & surgery friday on both hands to pin bones together. Hip hurts like a mother, but X-ray said it isn"t broken. MRI on thursday to confirm. Jacket & gloves in the saddlebags doesn't help much.
I will post accident pics once I get them. Bike is in lots of little pieces.

i own the semi auto spyder no hand clutch just push button shifting and if you are lazy it will downshift for you at stoplights. it has good power and is a blast. you can normally see me at QSL in Colerain on Thursday nights. mine was 18000.00 when they first came out but compared to a 30000. goldwing trike i think they are worth the money..they even have a touring version out for 2010.
He would probably need this too. He has very minimal use of his legs. Not really any movement at all below the knees and very little feeling or movement below the waist. Would you mind if I pass on your contact info to him so he can hit you up if he has some questions?
-
I think they look like alot of fun and can be used alot more that a motorcycle with the amount of room for storage. I would like to get one but i do think they are over priced.
He mentioned something about getting one with a small trailer so he could haul the wheelchair with him. I would think that he could build some kind of mount on the back, but that's just my opinion. If he didn't have the chair with him, he is pretty much stuck on the bike.
-
First off, this isn't for me, and no, I'm not gay.
I have a buddy who was in an ultralight crash years ago and is in a wheelchair (12 years now). He always had street bike until the accident and now after dumping the GF, he wants to get back into riding.
The Goldwing trike thing seemed to be the only option until he came across a Can-Am Spyder roadster. He has also considered a Goldwing with "landing gear" (retractable training wheels).
Does anyone here know anyone who actually has one of these that he could go look at & chat with the owner?

1993 ST1100 - Naked (no bags on for the pic). It's comfortable, quiet & practical. I miss the sound of a sportbike.
And loaded with bags & backrest.

4 inches of insanity! kinda like shawn's weiner
Damn.... That's just plain mean.

I met him back in 91 while working out in Colorado Springs. The Ford dealer that I was working for brought him in for a few demonstrations and he had his collection on display in the showroom. Just as cocky in person as he was on the video.
Can't say as I really liked the guy, but he did put on a hell of a show. Even live, you couldn't hear both shots. He was using blanks & balloons jsut like in the video.

HK just got traded off for a Beretta 92FS and $150. I had 1 $600 offer and multiple $550 ones.
Others are still available if anyone is interested.
I have someone interested in the Colt Series 70 that wants to trade for a Stag model 6. He wants me to throw in an additional $200. I can get that by selling my .45 ammo. Anbody familiar with those (Stag model 6)?
-
Wow. The exercise ball back flip is awesome. I want to try that.
Please, oh PLEASE, have a camera rolling when you do.
-
will you budge at all on the HK
"Not yet". I am working on a swap for a Beretta + cash over the Christmas break, if that falls through, then "maybe".
-
Also eventually selling, IPSC custom .45 (Colt series 70). Can send pics if interested.
Colt Series 70, custom work by Jim Clark, tapered barrel & compensator
Bunch of other stuff, still looking for a comparable to find value.
Guessing $850 range
Hit me up if seriously interested.
Note: I am only really interested in trading for Berettta's & AR's. Prices negotiable if you have something to trade.
-
i love the USP...
You should really get it as a Christmas present to yourself.
You deserve it!!!! Hell, I'll even wrap it.
