  1. i understand what youre saying....but there are other ways the locals can pursue the problem rather than trying to hurt the riders....but it only takes that one crazy person who has reached their limit to start causing people to lose their lives....that guy in the truck could have killed several people in just the 5 minute chase he had with the bikes

Exactly. I like how they so easily pass judgement like they themselves have never done anything bad themselves. This truck driver is a perfect example, as mentioned, look at how many lives he put at risk just so he could be all high and mighty and prove his point to those evil rebel bikers.

In the end, they all look like morons and no party is any better than the other.

  2. Did you expect him to run forever? The truck wasn't giving up, even after 5 minutes of chasing the guy. Second bike was following his friend to make sure he was alright. I realize that running over the bike isnt anything they could use deadly force for - my comment about the truck being used as a weapon was when the driver tried to murder the rider using his truck. The guy was clearly not leaving without a confrontation of some sort - to say that the bikers are to blame for provoking and escalating the situation is absurd.

I agree. Obviously the truck separated the pair, and if I was the second rider, there would be no way I would try to make a pass after seeing what he did to the first rider. There was no way that situation was going away without some sort of confrontation. Either way, the truck driver brought it upon himself.

As for the whole gun argument, well it doesn't really matter in the end because it was not part of the equation, it's all speculation at this point. As for the truck driver pulling out the tire iron, well yeah, I would too being it was 2v1, but as I said, the idiot created the situation in the first place.

  3. i would say they made a reasonable attempt to flee the situation and it didnt work. they pulled over and the guy tried to run over the one guys bike...after pushing it out of the way, both parties had words and then the guy went into his truck and grabbed a weapon...at that point, i think they would have been justified to shoot him...im no lawyer, but i dont see it going differently than that....if they had just jumped off the bikes and shot him, that wouldnt fly...but once he grabbed that weapon (although the argument could be made that the truck was a weapon too), game on.

i would say if they had stopped on the spot it would be worse because they did nothing to try and escape the confrontation

I doubt that would even remotely hold up in a court of law. There were two of them against him, with a tire iron. I guarantee you that would be considered an unnecessary use of deadly force despite what happened prior.

Taking someone's life is serious business, and in that situation would be completely unwarranted (even though I wouldn't piss on that guy to put him out if he was on fire). I think just pulling out the gun alone would have made their point, but also believe that would still be a bit extreme. Cool heads prevail...

  4. lol waving at night, especially on a 4-lane highway = :shortbus:

    Don't feel bad, they're stupid.

LOL @ the spider thing. I actually had that happen to me a couple days ago. Was on my way home from the park when I see a spider crawl down onto the left side of my visor. I swear I was able to develop temporary lazy-eye b/c no way I was letting it out of my sight. I quickly sped up to get in front of my buddy to let him know I was pulling off on a side-street. I freaking absolutely HATE spiders (I stripped naked outside once when one fell down my shirt when I was younger) and have no clue how I didn't go batshit crazy...

  5. I just put on ASV C5 shorties a couple weeks ago. I had initially planned to do the shorty brake, long clutch, but decided on shorties for both sides.

Honestly, I love them. I got used to the clutch being a short lever in about a day. I usually would brake with two fingers already, so that was a non-issue. Yes, a long (standard) lever for the clutch would be a bit nicer if you sit in a lot of traffic, but I do my fair share, and the shorty doesn't really bother me anymore.

All-in-all, it comes down to personal preference. As I said, a long clutch lever would be more comfortable if you're in a lot of stop-and-go traffic, but the shorty isn't THAT bad in comparison, IMHO. If anything, if you know anybody running shorties, see if they'll let you get a feel for them (not necessarily ride).

As for adjustability, pretty much all of them will have it. Most of them will just have the six settings for adjustment (which is typically enough). The ASV's (not sure of any others) have a wheel that allow for numerous, and very pin-point adjustment settings.

Oh, they look hella-nice too. :D

  6. Any more on the guy on the yellow scooter? Those DOT piss pots are useless.

ROFL!!! Who cares? That guy was an idiot.

Look at me! I'm gonna jump a scooter on my huge arse, kill the suspension and fall on my face when it rebounds screaming "GTFO." Oh, and all the while, I'll just wear a dinky helmet that only protects the top of my head!

  7. mad haxx0rz skills, threatened to essentially take down OR singlehandedly, yet finds posting youtube links difficult.

    lol

Hey, highlighting a URL and hitting ctrl+c and ctrl+v is hard, yo!

My edit post buttin isnt showing up...:(

Dunno about that. Should be a button in the lower right hand corner of each individual post you make that says "Edit." Casper? O.o

  8. I am a fool. :(

Oh, I am not without blame. I joined in for a bit the other day as well, I just can't believe people aren't ignoring the little twat yet.

I don't know, I guess it just doesn't amuse me. I would say that I would just avoid the threads that he's in, but he trolls every single one. /shrug Maybe I will just stay away from the forum for awhile. I prefer to stay out of high school. Thanks.

    ...you win, Ringo. :nono:

  9. if only my bike was fast enought to keep up I would make the trip down to see this

Oh us "slowbies" would be fine. We'd be good for sweeping the back and plus then they would have people to check to make sure Ringo is okay... :D

  10. Yeah, this blows. I've only been able to ride twice so far. First ride of the season ended with a low-side. I finally got my parts and installed them at the end of last week and got to go for a short, albeit nice, ride...then this crappy-arse weather comes along!
