buellinxb
Hello guys, I am new to this site. I currently have a 2003 Buell XB9 Lightning. Long story short, the shop that replaced my cam cover on the right side of my bike did something wrong upon installation. It sounds like there is a typewriter in my engine! Click, click click. As the engine turns faster, the clicking accelerates. Anyways, I would like to find a good Buell mechanic to diagnose the problem. Thanks for any help that might be offered.Jeff
DAC
I would guess Isaac's Papa would be a good bet. I think he owned one of those. Edited April 1, 2015 by DAC
Gixxus Christ!
Pauly is a solid mechanic. I have zero experience with Buell but I can take a swing at it.

jbot
Isaac's Papa (DucRX) did indeed have one previously and he has also worked on my 1125CR back when I had one as well as several other buells. he knows how to work on them for sure. Gixxus Christ!
Never got why people think you need to specialize in Buell or harley to work on them. It's all the same shit. Motor, electronics, suspension, final drive...there are subtle differences but they all work the same and mostly come apart the same. I've never had the head off a kawasaki before but I know it's gonna be pretty much exactly like a honda or suzuki or yamaha. Not saying anything against pauly, he's a great mechanic. I just don't understand why some people think their bike is so different than the rest.

Heagachongoose
Lol. I have an 1125. Its really not that complicated. It seems a little ridiculous but until you completely tear it down yourself it doesn't make much sense. It really is a joy to work on. My most reputable mechanic is myself. I make it a point to learn and maintain everything I own. I suggest you grab a manual of the interwebs and do it yourself. There are a few dedicated buell forums where you can get all the help you need. The xb is a simple bike and a good place to start learning. It's a rewarding experience that saves you much in the long run.

Gixxus Christ!
I looked over my old boss's xb1200 and yeah, didn't really see much to it. The belt drive and perimeter braking were odd, but when he explained to me how easy it is to get the rear wheel off and how that tapered excenitric thing works I realized the genius in simplicity of design that Erik used.
