JackImpact
Looking for some feedback from you guys who use GoPros when you ride. Looking to get one, most likely chin mount. Just wanted to hear your thoughts and recommendations.
JustinNck1
I have tried some different mounts on mine. Ram Mount, crash bar mount, and some helmet mounts. My favorite is the chest mount. Here are some of my videos Crash Bar Mount: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGSVq4HZNSo Ram Mount: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcOKlYiveLU Chest Mount: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq2xF3BB1Dw
Tonik
I don't own one, but having seen a bunch of vid's from peeps. Yea, chest mount is by far the best.
JackImpact
Not really familiar with the different models of Go Pro either though.
TwiztedRabbit
ive never used chin mount.. ive only used mirror replacement mounts.. the stick on mounts and a chest rig... ive shot with a gopro original hero, a gopro 2 and a gopro4 black.. they all look damn similar. from 720p on the first GP to 1080 with the newest last year ... the newer ones have more features to make scrolling through menus easier. or a back LCD screen. but it kills the battery faster... my original hero is or the GP2 is my go to as I can charge it and run it every session 20 mins at a time all day... but the hero4 I have to charge at lunch. and the vid seems very close
JackImpact
Say I had a discount on them from work. Which should I get? I was looking at the Session.

JackImpact
Was the Hero 4 Black worth it?
JustinNck1
The Hero 3+ models are usually a bargain if u can find one.
Helmutt
We have a few GoPros. All are standard HeroHD, and all perform great. BestBuy had them on sale for $129 last winter, and think I saw another sale on 'em again a few months ago. Cheap way into a good cam to try out
JackImpact
I really want one that does 1080 and 60fps minimum.
TwiztedRabbit
the base hero I believe does that and are dirt cheap...
Helmutt
Yup. Well, the standard HeroHD is 1920x1080-30fps, or 1280x720-60fps. But still on sale for $129 http://shop.gopro.com/cameras/hero/CHDHA-301.html?skipredirect&gclid=CjwKEAiA__C1BRDqyJOQ8_Tq230SJABWBSxnJZw0nq59IC_7Nefz_ax9xgnevQN_C8szMLQMR6pIqxoCMJTw_wcB

JackImpact
I used to do product reviews for fun and as therapy. So now I thought I would combine the two.
wolfeman28
If you aren't doing it for money, just get the cheap Chinese knockoff. They work just as well. Check out the reviews. My 'main' camera for things is a GoPro, and I use the $50 generics for alternate views.
TimTheAzn
I've got a Hero3 and I like it. I need to get some more battery packs so I can record rides. I usually just have it set on photo mode taking a photo every min or so because I cant record for that long on one battery. I did buy it used so I'm sure the P.O didn't properly take care of the battery.
Wojo72
Anybody have a recommendation on the Chicom knock offs? My son wants a camera for his ski trips. I'll borrow it during the summer for the bike. Blackview Hero, SJ400, ???

Just wire up a 12 power supply for it. http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Eliminator-Adapter-Cigarette-Accessory/dp/B00QGSE9IE

I paid $57 with shipping and spent another $20 on extra batteries and a memory card. It comes with a surprising number of mounts and accessories. As far as quality, I'd put it above a Hero 1 and about equal to the Hero 2 (which I also have), but the Hero 3 & 4 smoke it in video and still image quality. Battery life is pretty anemic too, hence the extras. I doubt I'd get a full hour of video with one battery, whereas my Hero 2 will go 2-2 1/2 hours on a charge. What that means is that I'll still use my Hero2 as primary and will mount the Chicom in a secondary position with external mini USB power. Bookmarked. However, I only have 1 power source on my motorcycle right now and I always keep my phone plugged in because my iphone is has an effing terrible battery life. (It runs my music and GPS) This will probably end up changing sometime this season because its good to have more than one thing plugged in at once.
