Hello everyone,

I am new here; introduced by a good friend and mentor of mine. I am still "new" to riding however. I have only ridden my Shadow for around 2 years in Northern Michigan until I moved down to Ohio for work. Yes, the great migration got to me too. I sold the bike long before I came down to Ohio and kick myself everyday for doing that. So with that, I decided its time to get back into riding. Only now, that I am married, it was time to introduce my husband to riding as well.

A little more about myself and my family?

Ask away. I'm just a goofball who enjoys making people laugh their asses off. My husband and I enjoy bored games, tabletop games, and of course video games. We am more of a PC and Retro gamer type these days it seems. I include him (Andy) in every part of my life and vise versa. Our comedy comes in pairs although I take way less time to warm up to people. Think FI vs carb in that aspect. We are photographers(me) and cinematographers(Andy)

What I might want out of this community?

Friends, contacts, community itself, fun. Someone to convince my husband I am not going to die every time I ride maybe LOL? But in all seriousness I am looking for friends to hang out with, share ideas, work on projects together, and of course ride together.

Anything I can bring to the table?

I am IT and know a thing or two about electrical work. I'm also not afraid to crawl into the hood of any car and come out black as night. I love helping my friends with their car and motorcycle projects or simply being a point of contact when they need a tech to look at their computer for them. Fair note. I only give advice for free once when it comes to tech. I also would be happy to do photos for the groups here to sharpen my car photography skills, and Andy would not mind getting more videos in of customized bikes at shows, meets,or events.

So its nice to find a group and hopefully make new friends in the process. Thank you all!

Your friendly neighborhood W.T.F.,

       - Nash

Welcome. Also in IT. Lots of us here are actually. The board owner is, but he sucks at it as you will learn.

Hit the rides and events section. Come to the Epic ride. Groups and paces for everyone from slow to Mach Retard.

Welcome to OR! Tonic is in school IT (i.e. busting kids looking at porn and screwing with teachers) and Casper is a "DB Consultant" (i.e. I surf Reddit and the like while traveling the globe). Don't let them fool you.  :D

Funny you should mention that. Yesterday bunch of kindergartners looking at porn.  The terms they search for are sad.... girls sucking dick... women peeing....Breaks my heart that the world has progressed to this. Nothing wrong with that kind of thing :)  just not at that age.  Be a kid at least for a few years.

Parents suck, there is no doubt about it.

Wow! most of the parents probably laughed it off as them being "cute". Having a 9 y/o and 11 y/o is tough. Jill and I try to shelter them from it as much as we can but the shit that their friends and teammates talk about is eye opening. Most of if was stuff I didn't give 2 shits about until Jr. High or later.

If kids are viewing porn and I don't stop it I am a felon. 5 years. I don't go to jail if they get past the filter, but if they get past it, I know and don't fix that issue then I am going away.

Need to apply the same law to Parents. If your kid is searching for horse porn and you don't stop it you go to jail.

And they are lucky I don't have kids in school.  If your kid shows my kid horse porn I am beating your ass.

Absolutely! I am not even remotely subtle when it comes to my kids.

Just this morning Carie gave me "the look" when I said if anyone ever hurt our kids something long, drawn out, and horrible would happen to that person involving pliers and a soldering iron. Not sure why those were the first tools to come to mind, but I'm sticking with it.

Are we to a point where the majority of ORDN members have a kid or kids?

I am afraid I'm entering a phase in my life where the bike(s) will take a back seat (ironic pun intended) to kids.  I have every intention of bringing my girls riding and racing when they're old enough, but until then, my oldest is starting to ask "is daddy at work?" when I'm at the track, and throwing #2 into the mix in September means that the wife isn't going to be thrilled about me being gone for anything until I can take the kids with me.

Maybe I need to start my own "talk my wife into a toy hauler" thread :p

It happens. I swore it wouldn't, but it did.

I got off while my kid was little, didn't even own a bike. Never regretted it, kids are the most important thing we do with our lives.

parenting is the most important job in the world, and there's no job interview.

But yeah, back on topic.  Bikes are good.   Except expensive ones.

i kinda regret giving up racing and track days entirely but then again, i would've regretted not being there for my daughter and my wife more i think.  i can always ride later once Mina is older and I can bring her with me.  her first paid gig will be tire warmer duty lol

oh right, welcome and all that.
