Got pulled over for going 57 in a 40??  Total BS.  Speedo was at 44 after I crossed the 40mph sign..

Sheriffs radar gone was way off.  Anyway ended up getting a warning.  But got it on my gopro and you can clearly see my speedo..

This happen to anyone else..  The shitty radar readings?

You got a Jap bike (as do I). What your speedo says don't mean jack. It's 5 to 7 slow at 65.

65 indicated on every bike I've owned has been closer to 60. This is the opposite problem dude is having. His bike indicated 44 but was clocked at 57. Unless the gearing is way off from stock, this shouldn't be.

It can also incriminate the fuck out of you.

Yup. After that ride with BamBam at the Gap, I stopped recording rides.

Never seen a speedo read low like that.  Only high.   The Wee read 11% high, so I got the replacement speedo face with corrected speeds and now it's 1mph high at 60, not 7mph high.

Speedo at 44 but radar says 57?    Something ain't right.

My husband and I got pulled over for doing 57 in a 55. Trooper said he figured we'd run. Asshat. So moral of the story is sometimes you will be pulled over even if you aren't doing anything wrong. But, it sounds like you know your speedo is accurate. We both use WAZE while riding and it shows our speedos are both off a little bit. Although I'm assuming that WAZE is mostly accurate as well which may not be true. :)

Going in a straight line on a flat road it will be extremely accurate. Throw in curves and hills and it becomes less accurate as it misses some of the distance you cover.  But not badly.

What I did was run a GPS speedo on a flat road at different speeds.  So at 35 I know it is off 2 mph, at 45 it is 2.5 and so on.

Profiling.  You ride sportbikes; they think you'll run.  Cops must like the thrill I guess.  You ride a Harley; you must be a 1% from a big club transporting drugs.  They want to arrest you and impound your bike.

Amazingly the AMA (which coined the "1%" and the image that goes with it) is now pushing to make profiling illegal.  Times change I guess.

Coincidently, I had an OHP tell me that us Harley riders aren't fun anymore.  Bikes are legal, insured and properly licensed.  We have drugs alright...prescriptions for diabetes, blood pressure, Viagra...and we don't run usually.  I still get pulled over, lied to as to why we're chatting, asked if I have shotgun shells in the ends of my handlebars and how do I shoot them.

Next time tell him you are very sorry you disappointed him, and that it won't happen again and that you will be sure to run in the future.

Are phone's gps refresh-rates even fast enough to provide an accurate reading?

Also, radar/laser guns are supposed to be calibrated on a schedule. Maybe it was off as well compounding the issue. I believe one of my friends got out of a ticket (because he loves fighting in court for some reason) and he was able to pull the records of the radar/laser gun the cop used when he got clocked and it was past it's scheduled calibration and he got out of it. He was totally speeding but :dunno:

My husband actually did tell him that. Well at least the sorry to disappoint part.

It's unlikely the radar gun is what's off.

You got a warning. Sounds like a just result.
