For those not in the know, it's supposed to be officially announced today at the New York Auto Show. These pics were taken yesterday:

Price and color options have not been announced yet, that's what I'm waiting for...

Paint it up like Elanor from Gone in Sixty Seconds, including that GT500 badging I saw on the side, and I would drive it in a heartbeat.

Elanor had fog lights in the grill :D

I was thinking the same thing...

It's beautiful, but 0-60 in 4.5 seems a little conservative. With 390 now and 60 in 4.5/4.6, I would think that 60+ more horsepower would get that beast to 60mph a little faster. Thoughts?

And can someone photoshop it black with white racing stripes? graemlins/thumb.gif

0-60 is retarded, all gearing and traction, less to do with hp. 1/4 mile is a truer measure of strieght line performance.

I just wish they would put stronger internals in it. They are using the GT heads and rings but that's about it. I don't like the fact that they are using "unique connecting rods" as opposed to billet or forged. When it comes to Ford, unique is another word for cheap. :(

<font color ="midnightblue"> No argument. Going with what they provided though, 4.5 seems 'slow', especially when talk about this Cobra a year or so ago was that it was supposed to compete with the Viper; now it's not even in the league of the Z06. *shrug* it's still a great car, especially for the money.

<font color ="midnightblue"> Hypothetical situation: let's pretend this car was in the same performance category as the new Z06 (i.e., same 1/4, track performance, cornering, etc), and was the same price, say roughly $40k. So now it comes down to looks. What would you buy?

I think the new corvette is a mongrel mixed breed in terms of looks (S2000, new Viper, old 360...), so I'd definitely go with the new Cobra.
