Let the car sit an hour, co back out, and it take 3 seconds of starter torture to get her running, WTF? The battery is a 2 month old Optima red cell, 800 cca's. that hell? Guest powers Posted January 6, 2003 Report Share Posted January 6, 2003 the battery may not be the problem, check the voltage out on the alt and the battery. Sounds like it is not getting a full charge and in that situation cold weather can reduce it's amperage output. Also check the voltage and amperage on both ends of your battery cables a cable with a high resistance value can contribute. Some good places to start.
