What causes spark plugs to be orange?

Those are really good looking plugs. If I had to guess it would be heat.

I'd be willing to bet that the front of the engine stays slightly cooler than the back or the side opposite of the radiator inlet. I'd leave them alone. They aren't gonna help your car be faster, but I know how tinkering goes as well so do what you want. If you do replace them keep a few for spares.

He is right, the rear bank has to take all the heat from the front bank because of the crossover setup they have on the exhaust. They only had that problem on the supercharged engines that had other upgrades.

 

Are they making long tube headers yet?
