Yes, this has been discussed. Personally, if I really needed chains and only have them for 2 tires, I think I would go with the front also. Basically, you are choosing between steering or traction.

Old. But she's still a moron. If you've only got 2 chains and need steering as well - one on driver's side front, one on driver's side rear.
