youngflyflashy
How hot temperature-wise do sportbikes usually get just riding on the street and what is too hot? i have an '05 636 and it's my first super-sportbike so i'm not really familiar with the normal operating temps, and it seems like it's running fairly hot (i can literally feel the heat comming from the engine lol)...i was right around 198-223 degrees, is this normal? shittygsxr
Its very normal on our gixxers the fan doesnt even kick on until
youngflyflashy
that makes sense...i was just a little concerned
yotaman88210
Yep, thats normal. It will get hot if you are doing alot of stop and go, i.e. traffic light to traffic light in the city. On the highway you will stay closer to 200.
youngflyflashy
Yeah that's what my friend told me...he also told me to try to stay in a higher gear to keep the temp down, i.e. 4rd or 5th gear...what do you think about that? yotaman88210
It will keep RPMs down, so yea, True story. I dont think I have ever heard of "4rd" gear tho? Is that somewhere between 3rd and 4th, or is it between 4th and 5th?
youngflyflashy
lmao!!! typo, sorry...but if it did exist, i would assume that's where it would be lol
MaverickK6
I had one just like it and that's what mine ran. Your good. Smokey
223 is a little hotter than you'd like to be, but I'm going to assume you weren't being too specific on that number as it's just a bit higher than most bikes will have the fan kick on.Most newer sport bikes have the fan kick on in the 210-215 range, and shouldn't go much above that. I'd consider 220 about the ceiling of comfort. As for the heat off of the engine bay....welcome to sportbikes.
Zecho
If you're concerned, just switch the gauge to celcius.. 220F is around 105c.
