8.8 mustang rear ring/pinion question

Okay, so I changed the gear oil and put a new gasket on my girlfriends 5.0 the other day, the car has a stock 8.8 with after market 355's, unknown brand in it and has kinda made noise since she got the car a few years ago but seems to be worse now, I don't know why maybe the new oil is too clean the old gear oil that came out looked like liquid metal like in terminator 2 haha, I didn't touch anything in there at all, but the shims on the carrier or whatever on the driver side were way off one was looking as if it was about to to pop out, granted thats prob whats wrong, but not sure, can i just pull the carrier out and put new shims on it or do I need someone who knows what they are doing in there to make it work right again?

Which brings me to my next question who can look at this hopefully fix it for me for cheap?

if your gonna have it apart, you should probably put new bearings in it.

both axels bearings and pinion bearing as well.

an dyes it will need shimmed especially if you go with a different gear set.

make sure you put in LSD additive with your gear oil as well.
