Got-Boost? Posted May 7, 2008 Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 Most of the good convertable cars launch the roll bars upwards 3-6" when a roll over is detected. It's not much but every bit helps when you flip a convertable. Not to mention your head probably isn't staying straight up, you are probably turned sideways from the force of the roll.... They're not exactly cosmetic either, as there's actual metal tubing under them that attach to the car's frame. The plastic covers over them are dress-up.
