Guest Removed
no names will be posted till i feel the need. and if you know whos this is just keep your mouth shut . i will be the one letting the cat out of the bag on whos cars it is and who screwed it up (IMO). Now here are MY guage reading on a rather fresh engine... tuned, broken in correctly and so on... #1 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2539.jpg 20%.. IMO too much #2 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2541.jpg 16% still too much IMO #3 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2542.jpg 17% #4 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2544.jpg 22% #5 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2547.jpg 25% #6 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2548.jpg HOLY SHAT NO LEAK!!!! This IMO is big deal. you should have atleast 5-10% due to ring gap #7 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2549.jpg 11% the only good one i see here #8 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2550.jpg 18% still IMO too much fresh engine guys with less then 2000 miles on it. with proper oil changes and what not, none of the above look good to me except #7. Now on with number 6, i am thinking either the rings where not gapped , or the ring swelled and melted together, or the bore is to small! with the rest of these im thinking bore is to big, or rings are over gapped or just plain poor sealing, for what ever unknown reason. now i can't tear this down due to the guy that did all the work will not allow tear down but only bye him. now granted he did not install the heads on the motor, he built the short block and redid the heads. I am bringing this here for a few reasons.#1 its a members car , #2 i am gathering opinions on this, because the one that did most of this told the member that he detonated this engine, and that why it has excessive BLOW BY.(im calling BS) during leak down i only had air coming thru the oil cap and so much so it pushed the dip stick out! NO leak thru the exhuast or intake. Most of the plugs show signs of oil burning.(will post pics of plugs in a minute or so) NO oil in the intake stream any where. discuss! Guest Removed
spark plugs(im not sure if they are in the correct order but other then that is what i am told at this point! seems to be right! 1 thru 4 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2553.jpg 5 thru 8 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/102_2554.jpg
AJ
i concur, that engine has some issues. 5-10% is what you really want in a perfect engine.

Guest 614Streets
What did the engine builder set ring gap at per inch of bore.
Guest Removed
What did the engine builder set ring gap at per inch of bore. it was supposed to be setup for super charger. i wish i could tear it down but he wont warranty anything if someone other then him does it id like to get out my bore gauge and see whats up inside. edit: this engine has had bad blow by for the last few weeks. Guest Removed
I didn't do it..... might be ok for a loose ring drag car.... might anything else its hoed in drag cars to reduce drag they make the rings thinner. for less drag my big spray motor's are no more then .022-.028 ring gap. and dont have that much leakdown. (engine builder say 15-20% will be normal) yeah if you want tons of blow by and burn oil

GSXRAntwon
I tested my Neon once after numerous beatings (1 year) of 25psi it took and it was only 2-3%, that engine builder needs some more training.
