Pronunciation Thread:

I found a funny thread that was like 9 pages long on the correct way to say "Murcielago"... So i figured that we could have it out on virtually anything....

The popular vote was for something along the lines of:

Mur - thee -el - ahgo (sounds a bit "lispy")

^^^ i refuse to believe that is correct...it osunds retarded

the most common one i hear is

Mur - see - el - ahgo (which i believe is wrong!)

I am selfly-convinced that the correct pronunciation is:

Murch - E - L - uh - GO (with a "ch" like in "church")

Discuss....

I was told that the "thee" sound is correct because that's how the word is pronounced in a certain dialect of spanish. But the "see" sound is OK because most spanish dialects would pronounce it that way. I usually pronounce it with the "see" sound though I'm used to hearing the "E-L" cause I watch too much Top Gear.

Mur - thee -el - ahgo is correct. You know the spanish and italian language are similar if you study them...?

i agree, although the people at Tein USA call it "tee-en"

Thats because they dont know German grammer... TEIN should be pronounced like TINE, sounds like Nine. In German the emphasis goes on the second letter when E and I are placed together.

The shop owner says it correctly, TINE. (around 1:00min in)
