TTQ B4U
For those that are interested: My overall rating 9/10 Took the family to South Haven, MI for a full week of fun and beach time. Never been there before so here's my take if you're interested. We went last weekend after catching the Dublin fireworks here. Left Saturday morning arriving 5-6hrs later. Cool thing is they shoot their fireworks off after the 4th. Evidently the city gets a great deal on the show and allows for folks like us to travel up there and catch a second round of fun. As a family spot, it's great. Lots of good public beach access with refreshment and restroom spots. Definitely a place to rent a nice condo or house as we did. Price is great and you don't need to be right on the beach. We were just north and like it as it was peaceful yet only 1/4 mi away. If we had split it, the costs would have been dirt cheap. Bikes are a great way around, parking is cheap though...all day for $5. Tons to do with the kids, etc...Beach is very nice and being this time of year, temps were in the upper 70's low 80's, low humidity...blue sky....just perfect. It did rain on us one day, but no big deal. Again, indoor stuff is around too. I We brought tons of stuff, even camped out on the condo grounds with the kids for fun. Grilled out most nights BS'ing with other locals and visitors. Good times all around. If you're single....not doubt, it's like Lake Erie spots...pussy galore and lots to do and places to do it. No need to expound more than that Kayaking, boating, fishing, all sorts of fun await. Here are a couple gratuitious pic-whore shots for those that care or even don't It's about my kids, so no good boob shots here....sorry. NOS50
I took the family to Hilton Head the first week of June ($2600.00 for the house for the week) OUCH but we have been hearing so much about MI that we have been thinking about another vacation. This time shorter and closer to home. That looks like a good time. TTQ B4U
it was a really good time. beaches there are nice with lots of public access points. in several areas there were only like 10-15 people on the beach, so it was like we had the whole place to ourselves. most go to the South Beach area....but IMO, the sand and the surf is the same and I preferred the more sparsely populated areas. You'll enjoy it. We're planning a family Reunion that we normally hold locally for there next year since it won't cost hardly anything for us once we pair up in rentals. The drive is short too, so that's great for kids. RumbleStrip
Man you are 10 minutes from a great Road Racing track: http://www.gingermanraceway.com I've dropped the fam off at town and gone road racing there multiple times. Super safe track with tons of run off, great for a beginner to road racing. Four great straights and couple challenging turns. Its a bit tough on tires but a great time! If anyone's interested I run with a great group of guys based out of MI and usually it pretty cheap at 120-140 a day. They are great and run it pretty loose. I'm not sure if they have any more events planned this year, but I can find out.
johnkuhn
Thanks for the great review of South Haven! I live here and have a business here. If any of you come here to visit you can find me at Johns Stereo. We would be happy to give you a tour around and tell you about the other things in the area. The fall is also very nice here. Us 131 dragway is only 45 minutes away from here and the same for Kalamazoo Speedway. There are a couple of good towns close buy that make great day trips also.
