Gas prices on the down swing....

How long do you think it will last?? Is the gas "bubble" finally popped at least a little? or... do all of you think we will be back up to the four dollar plus area again soon.

getting close to the holiday season makes me wonder if we will be seeing close to five dollar per gallon prices by dec/jan. Kinda sad that i am relieved to see 3.50-3.60 per gallon prices.

Gas WILL keep escalating in price until higher prices and the engineered destruction of the economy, will cause people to start researching these problems. A false scarsity of oil has been created and all the mindless drones in this country won't peel their faces off the TV and wake up. The facs are there: the dollar has lost 50% of its value, which we now pay more for FOREIGN oil.

All the "OMG gas prices, economy, war, global warming" bullshit will be the perfect recipe to implement a socialist police state. Just wait for the carbon tax.

This country is facing bigger problems than than what John Doe is paying for gas... have you noticed that the whole service sector is in disdain? Did you know the devalued dollar is what is keeping this country alive?

My office is doing great, I am in the service sector. The dropping dollar has helped bring back some manufacturing to Mt. Vernon. Rolls Royce is booming right now. Everyone is on mandatory overtime, and they are now hiring again.

I could give a fuck less about the service sector. We went from a country of explorers, engineers, tradesman, innovators, leaders. Now we are just a country of "service"... fucking insurance adjusters, paper pushers, therapists, marketers, ect.

Maybe the economy crash will put some shovels and rakes back in the hands where they belong. No more laying around all day watching American Idol...

Did the same when I got Sunoco 94 for $3.91 yesterday. Should NOT be happy about that, but I'll admit, I was.

I took the kids to the Columbus Zoo yesterday and on the way home stopped at the FlyingJ to get gas. I was in my Mountaineer, so I only had to get 87. I couldn't believe I was HAPPY to pay $3.61 a gallon. In Cambridge 87 is still around $3.85 and where I get 93 for the Evo is like $4.09 :(

I've been saying the same thing. Made in America doesn't mean shit anymore, everyone just wants to be middlemen and not do any real work. I remember when people wouldn't buy "Made in East Asia" garbage unless they wanted something really cheap they could just throw away. Now even premium companies are making everything there just to save a buck...So I've stopped buying it. (Or tried at least)

And oil is just going to keep going up. Unless we start drilling here, and keeping it here. Cut ourselves off completely from foreign oil, let the other countries deal with the impending OPEC crisis

They have us right where they want us when we think 3.60 is a good price. I don't expect it to last long!

They don't have me fooled. At 3.60 they're still about 1.60 too high and that's what I think everytime I drive by a gas station. :)

I think it partially depends on what Iran does in terms of OPEC. I mean they just recently played their card of "You pose any military aggression towards our nuclear program we'll completely cut off our oil from the rest of the world."

From that it makes me wonder what the rest of OPEC thinks of Iran(don't forget, OPEC was quoted at saying oil should be currently at 80 dollars a barrel). OPEC in general is interested in the finances, where Iran is showing their more interested in using it for political reasons, which is against the common OPEC good. They said they won't be suprised if oil reaches 500 dollars a barrel within a year or so, whereas the rest of OPEC disagrees for the simple reason of they know at that price they'd get no income as well.

Then there is also the thing of if Iran was to cut off their supply out would the rest of OPEC alienate them for the simple reason of by doing so Iran will essentially declare war with the rest of the world and when most of your food is imported and you have 2 countries(russia and the US) who would probably have no problems with blocading their ports and all of their trade routes one must wonder if Iran is just pulling an incredibly large bluff or if they're really that nuts of a country.

Hell if I care about gas prices, my RX-7 could run on Whiskey or Paint thinner. Lowest octane ftw.

The Galant, on the other hand, sucks.

dunno what whiskey you're drinking brother but I'd LOVE to find what I normally drink for $4/gallon

Supply is used as propoganda to mask the truth, we haven't built a refinery in the US since the 70s and our current "administration" has a conflict of interest in the oil industry.

Not trying to be a dick, just do some research.

not sure how I feel about the service vs manufacturing aspect, but I'm welcoming the weak dollar right now.

I don't buy imports really and I like that the weak dollar means we're going to shake some of these leeches off, like India.

As for oil prices - it'll correct itself. The energy speculators were just testing the public's breaking point. They found it. It'll now hover at just below our pain threshold for here on out. until we forget and they test it again.

The producers (OPEC, etc) - dont have shit to do with the current price situation.

If it makes any of you feel better *I* still get pissed off at paying for gas.

This is a flame-worthy statement, but the one good thing that is coming from the past few years of expensive gas is the complete decimation of the 'light truck' market in the US. People ARE waking up and realizing that driving a pickup truck 40 miles to work every day is a damn stupid idea. Ford wrote off $8,000,000,000 in inventory last quarter thanks to Joe Sixpack finally getting his head out of his ass and opting for a sedan instead of a pickup. U S A! U S A!
