Well ... completely disappointed with my 1/4 times last weekend at NTR mostly due to my crappy 60 foot time .... i decided to get some new beef.

I considered the M/T and BFG's but with a pretty much stock trans, driveshaft, and rear end (other than 3.73) i decided to go with the Nitto 555r's. here are a few pics. Going to have then installed next week. While i realize its not going to help my 1/4 mile time but i also purchased some Steeda Sport Springs today as well :D

I had the 555R's on for a while. They do grip better than regular radials, but they are easy to over-power. And yes, they need to be REALLY hot to work well.

I just purchased some MT's to replace these with...

Good luck! :)

Thanks man.... what type of HP and TQ are you putting down? what is your 60 foot and 1/4 mile time with the Nitto's?

Going to be hard to cut a good short on such a small sidewall.

Yeah i know.... i'm up to the challenge :) ... we will see .. has to be better than those crap tires i have now.... if you want check out my crap run ....

14.38 ... at 98mph .... 60 foot was like 2.192 ... you can hear me burning the tires off the line....

245-50-16=4.82" of sidewall

285-35-18=3.92" of sidewall

hes basically giving up 2 inches of sidewall, its not as easy to make em hook

maybe im completely crazy but since when is

4.82

-

3.92

-------

= 2 inches???

isnt it something like at 0.9 .... is roughly 1 inch that much to give up?

yeah 1 on each sidewall :D you have two sidewalls on the tire when calc. total height

ic ... we shall see... it is what it is at this point ... didn't really want to go with the m/t or BFG's so if im disappointed ... then well... its my fault.... i enjoy the "motivation" that everyone is providing :D

best i could get was 2.0 60' time with my 315 nittos. the one time i powershifted from 1st to 2nd, i almost lost control of the car. nittos are a great compromise between a dedicated dragstrip drag radial, and a street tire

Thats exactly what i was going for... :)

Currently neither. I've been deep 1.6's on 275/50R15 BFGs.

I had them on a daily driver, got decent mileage out of them and they weren't too scary in the rain.

Same here. Deep 1.6s with 275/50/15 and 275/60/15 BFGs with decent road wear. Just don't drive them in the rain while bald :D
