you cannot sell them on CS. Other sources, hehe

Yes your right you can't, but would they really know?

Question: My boss got some "Cuban" cigars when he went to the Deminican Republic or someplace like that. He has had them for about 6 months. He didn't take care of them real well and was trying to bring them back in his humidor. They were in there all along but he didn't take care of them. What should i do with them? Any way i could tell if they are still good either from feel or smoking one?

check this, a good cigar should be a TINY bit spongey... if not

OK, and for this...

Someone PM'd me about cigars that they hadnt humidified... i figure i'd post this up for the commonwealth of anyone else hwo may want to know.

Definite NONO

Those are dried to all hell. They wll not be enjoyable...

to save them, do this.

Freeze them for 2 days (to kill off any tobacco beetle larve)

then, you need to put them in a humidot, actually, more than a humidor, you need to wetbox them, do you have a humidor?

if not, you need to take a plastic container that seals well and take DISTILLED WATER (or they will grow mold) and soak it into a bleach-free paper towel. then set the paper towel next to BUT NOT TOUCHING the cigars and leave them there for a long time.

the only way to really know if they are getting good humidity is to by a hygrometer. These can be had at a local cigarshop for less than 10 bucks.

to re-animate dry cigars... you need to get them up to 75-77 percent humidity (As opposed to 67-70 for regular smokes).

You need to leave them in this container at 75+ humidity until they are nice and soft again...

then, just smoke and enjoy

yes i did read that, but since they arn't dried out all the way and they have been in the humi being taken care of for 3weeks now i didnt know if i would still need to freeze them then do all of that. is there anything bad that could happen from smoking them and or putting them in the humidor? If i get them on friday also, you want a couple to try and to check out?

it depends what temp they were at, anyhtign over 70 degrees need to be frozen

Edit: I was reading on there and learned how and what to do. Into the freezer they go for the weekend, then monday wetbox/humidor. I thought this was going to be easy, didn't realize there was so much shit to worry about. :(

new humidor...

Well, i had this bad boy delivered to my office today, couldn't wait to get home to season it.

BTW< it weighs about 21 lbs, so sturdy, thick, and elegant, I am completely satisfied.

Another thing to note is that i got an "imperfect" for 40.00 less than the regular price... and there is literally nothing wrong with it... the box was damaged, but the damage didn't make it through the inner foam protectors.

Oh and P.S. - Thats actual glass in there, no polycarbonate plastic!

Thanks Tampa humidor!!

I started at 7pm by wiping down the interior with distilled water.

I then filled the Sponge Humidifiers with PG and DW.

Finally, i placed a shot glass of DW inside hoping to get her primed.

Noted - I did the salt test for 28 hours on my wally world hygro and it was off by one degree. i placed it inside at 7:30pm and its midnight, its only up to 53 percent, i htink its going a little slow? anyone???

Here are some photos, enjoy!!!

Yes that does seem to be going a little slow, I got my new 100 ct humi and after 5 hours it was up to 65%. I have seen people say it takes theres a long time. There is always the chance that it might not be sealing all the way either. I seasoned the shit out of it. Put 2 glasses and the block in there till i hit 70% then went to one glass for another day. I went up to 75% and now i have my beads in there as im awaiting to put my new load of cigars in there tomorrow. Right now it is at 67% and by tomorrow it should be at 64-67%. Put a larger bowl of distilled water in there or more shotglasses. The more exposed water to air can only help.

Bit of an update for me Bob, that little 20ish count humidor doesn't last long. Got this on sale from CI for $95. I like it alot, has a nice darker finish which goes with the rest of our furnature. Had alot of christmas money I blew on this set up all and all lol.

What are you keeping yours at right around 70/70? I can't get mine dialed in exactly I've got it to either 67% or 75%.

75 is too high, use beads, its the only way to live.

I have a bit larger of a humidor, and i use a Cigar Oasis (plug in hydro unit)... if i didnt, i'd use ebads.

Thats a nice haul you have there. Way to go man, i am very very proud of you!!!

How you like those nubs? they are delicious!!

BTW, Big A and i are going to do some CC box splits.

100.00 will get you a half box of premuim CCs. (either 10 or 12 depending on how many are in the box) Im talking Partagas, Romeo Y Julieta, Jose Pierdas.... etc

I'm loving the CAO ashtray that thing is baller. I'm probably reached my limit for cigars as of now so I'll have to pass on a buy in. Maybe in a few monthes after I've cracked some of my current stock down.

When I get a chance I'll get some of my accessory pics up, I got a pretty sick lighter or two. How much did that CAO ashtray cost her anyway?

As for the NUB's I love the Connecticut's haven't tried the other two yet again most of the cigars in there are a mixed variety of what I thought looked good, what was affordable/suggested (see the 4 FDO's), and what "name brands" I knew of at the time of purchasing. Got some Gurkha's in there too! Can't wait to lite one of them up.

where are you buying your cigars? i can most likely save you a grip with my contacts...

i think she paid 60.00 for the ashtray... i know the tinderbox has some for like 70.00

Try that Nub habano... so amazing.

KEep the box splits in mind. i have very reilable resources with great prices!!!

whats the fav cigar to date that you've smoked?

Probably can I got alot of mine from Pittsburgh and some from Cigar International. Price's were not horrible but I'm sure your getting alot better of a deal if you got connections lol.

Does the tinderbox sell some of those beads your talking about? How much? I got the gel type solution in there now, the humidity is going down now I've taken one of my devices out so we're see. How do the beads work exactly?

Here is the link to what bob is talking about. Check out the site everything you need is in there. There is also a calculator that tells you how many beads you need for your humidor. I have way more in mine than is needed because it helps to bring the level up faster when opening it. Alot of people suggest the 65% beads over the 70% but it is mostly personal preference if you like a wetter smoke.

Here is the FAQ page too

Pretty simple I read up on the site. Definitely something I will invest in next time for sure. Humility is right at 70% now finally. And as you said earlier about the Habano's I got 3 of them (for the NUB's).

If i understand the "gel" type you have will be fine since you already have it and its holding at 70. Again if it is what im thinking of they have been known to last 6mths and up so just keep an eye out to make sure they are working. when they die then you could check out the beads.
