LS7 money question

This isn't about old vs. new. ANYthing that was hurt badly enough to put a hole through a block and put a hole through a head is not worth nearly as much as a non-repaired engine to me; I am sure some people would pay that much.

Guess thats your opinion here's mine.

New school GM engines come sleeved, so why would changing the sleeves make any difference?

i guess its preference...if i could get a motor that was rebuilt like AJs for 6500 instead of one that was never rebuilt, for 7500+ shipping or 8grand, i would go with the 6500...

Big difference between rebuilt and repaired. And, for the record it was 7500 with shipping, so probably 7000 picked up (he can answer for himself what it sold for w/o shipping).

Good luck on whatever route you take AJ.

Was the only damage to a sleeve... or did it put a hole through the block? Since he said, "whole in the block", I assumed the latter.

Either way, as already stated, good luck AJ.

My bad i missed hole in the block. I saw dropped valve and thought it just ate up a sleeve. I'll read better.

Edit: shiping not included in the $7500 motor.

??

and i missed that it had a hole in the block also..ill read better too lol..but if it was repaired the right way, ide still buy it...but if i could get one with 1k miles for 7500 shipped, i would probably only pay 5500ish for one that was repaired from a hole in the block...i dont know what these motors go for though, so my opinion really doesnt matter...just throwing out there what ide be willing to pay if i was in the market for one

I fail and will re-read my own posts next time. :) I cared just enough to post, but not enough to double check myself. BTW, LS7 powered Stang would be hot.

if i was going to have an LSx vehicle it would be a cobalt ss....no idea how that would work or even if the motor would fit...but other than that ide really only want an lsx motor to build a nice sandrail out of...nowhere around here to really drive one, but it would be worth taking a weekend trip somewhere to take it out

Scott just a heads up I looked into LSxing my Third Gen....

I would have about 8 grand in everything.

I like where your idea. Thats exactly what I want to do.

I am interested in this but the only thing still holding me back is the block aswell. I don't know, just something about it being repaired.

its not fixed yet if you want to see it.

if people are so worried about a hole in the block then i could just rebuild it and put it in my car and spin it up to 7500 like my orginal plan was. i have no problem with this engine at all as the hole is no where near any water jacket or oil galley.

damn, this is an opportunity- if my LS6 didn't have such low miles I would be very tempted to slap this baby in mine with the stock cam and wet sump modifications...

Good luck AJ!

this engine only had 2880 on it so thats even less than yours:p

**broken valve spring cause the damage**
