I have no front plate either so double whammy if I did get pulled over. I like the, "fishbowl" look for now, but come spring i'll probably put the legal limit back on. I was wondering. I'm at 50% on the front, 35% on the rear and 18% on far side windows and hatch. I had a trooper at a truck stop ask me as he walked by when I was getting out of the car, but just kept walking as I rattled off the above. Yeah, there was 12% all the way around when I bought the car.. it gave me really bad tunnel vision at night. BTW, if I'm doing time attack.. the red mirror covers are happening. If you don't know why they do the colored(usually LED now) mirrors in LeMans, JGTC and etc is because it's used to differentiate cars on the track to pit members. IMO, I guess it would be tribute to some race heritage, and the timeattack look would also go along with that, "theme." Not that I think my car is a race car or anything, but I definitely think it can be pulled off just right. I have legal tint on the eclipse and love it but I never drive that car in the winter so not sure if it would look different in the winter. If I keep the Jetta I'll be doing the same legal tint. Not a fan of the poke he runs, but the car looks great. Its your car, and you sound like you really want to try the time attack and mirrors. Just go for it but do the wheels temporarily. Clean them real good and throw some plasti-dip on them. That way you can peel it off if you don't like it. And use the pinstriping tape for the red time attack that way it is totally reversable if you don't like it. Drive it for a few days/weeks and evaluate. Mirrors can be painted back easily so just do those. Good luck and throw up some pics when you do it. Oh and one last time lol, keep it the same!! I've already got it all planned out, and even better, I know where I can "borrow" some tornado red mirror covers . I was going to do exactly as you said and just use the red pinstriping tape to see if I like it or not.
