RARE truck for sale!

Recommended Posts

I have for sale a 1992 GMC Sonoma GT. The truck starts, runs and drives excellent, has great power. Rated at 200hp and 260tq. All options work aswell. These trucks were built in the same factory as the Syclone and look identical to them, even down to the interior! The syclone was a turbo 4.3 and AWD. This is a n/a 4.3ho. The truck has a nice pioneer cd deck in it aswell. There were only 800 of these trucks made, only 400 of which were black. Wanting 1500 cash or trade for a mustang, 82-92 bodystyle camaro, 4x4 truck, or utility 4wheeler with plow. Thanks

it is auto, the exact same floor shift as the syclone. It is rear wheel drive, and the only thing wrong with it is that there is about a foot long section of rust over the rear wheel well.

Why is it missing the rear skirts? Is this a clone? Chevy grille? Looks fishy to me.

Dont know where the rear skirts are, it never had them when I bought it. no its NOT a clone. Original grill shattered do to bird eating it at 90mph. If you dont believe me that its a real sonoma GT, i can post the VIN. I hate being called a liar FYI...

AWD also? Got pics? How difficult to transplant the 4.3 turbo into it?

The motor already has the same internals that the turbo version does, so im assuming it would just be a matter of slapping the turbo on and running the piping

Pics of the interior and rust. What about the rims as I asked earlier? Mileage?

The one pic I have of the rust is kinda far away, but hopefully you can still see it. The odo reads 232,000. Motor redone at 171k. The rims are not stock.

FYI, the CPI motor DOES NOT share the internals with the LB4 Sy/Ty motor. Many of the externals are different too.

CPI is known to internally leak too. Most powerful of the N/A 4.3L's, but also the least reliable. I've owned a OBD-I and...fairly rare I sadly found out, OBD-1.5 version.

I didn't call you a liar , and good luck on the sale. The body moldings are highly sought after.

Could you be more specific? I really dont know much about GMs, I am a ford guy through and through. What more can you guys tell me about this motor I have in this truck?

Are you talking all of the body moldings? or just the rear ones?

All of them are very highly sought after because noone makes those mouldings in the aftermarket for the syty's and GT's , so guys restoring them or building salvage trucks often pay top dollor for them.

Quite possibly the most expensive and longest build thread I have ever seen ever , a guy building a sonoma gt on s-series forum. http://www.s-seriesforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57700&highlight=sonoma

Dang, looks like Im gonna have to register to see the thread. Sorry about snapping at you earlier. It was just that was the first time I saw the thread after I posted it for sale and seeing you call my truck fishy struck a nerve. Again I apologize. I noticed on the stock pic of the truck from wiki that the rear moldings dont add much to the truck and you can barely notice them...guess thats why I never noticed when I bought the truck. Good eye. Do you know anything about this motor? What exactly leaks internally? Anti-freeze? Injector leak?

Anthony hit the nail on the head and now they have a revised system for the cpi injection which doesnt leak.

Your good no apologies needed bro , stick around

The poppet valves leak, and can leak anywhere into the manifold (they dry out, harden, then leak). Super common problem.

Otherwise, it's a pretty common motor (excluding the OBD 1.5 stuff, which aren't better, just a PITA to find parts for).
