Jonan1647545505
i was wondering if anyone could take a look at the wiring diagram that the module came with and tell me which wires i can exclude. im not an electrician and dont want to fuck up the g/f car. i think that i only need to hookup: 12v continuous power ground and the two that require you cut the white or white/blue ignition wire please someone take a look and let me know what i should do. link of wire diagram http://www.slickcar.com/manuals/pljx.pdf --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- so the car usually doesnt start when its cold out. its not the battery, tested, charged, all electronics work, its good. gm knows this is a problem and says it doesnt warrant a recall because its not a safety factor, whatever. so when my girl is leaving school/work late at night and her car wont start, is that not a safety concern? anyway my question is is there a way to disable the passkey/vtds/ignition immobilizer system? from what ive read this system looks for a very small current that passes through the key, ensuring its the "right" key before the car will start. is there a way to disable this system? i know, someone out there is a saturn tech or extech or something. thoughts ideas? Cordell
Yes you can, look into a remote starter. You can buy the parts to bypass it, but you don't have to have a remote starter.

Cordell
sweet and i can just cap off the wires that are for the remote start, since i wont be installing remote start? link of wire diagram http://www.slickcar.com/manuals/pljx.pdf Looks like you'll have to connect the start wire to power, and leave the other capped off so the thing will continue to fool the PCM. That thing is supposed to be used just so the remote starter will work, and continue to use the key when the remote starter is not being used. Or I suppose you could just hook up the start wire to switched power and do the same thing, but I'm not sure if that thing would have much of a draw on the battery or not, so I doubt it would matter much. Guest Removed
i hope this is a 05 Ion and not a l series TECHNICAL Subject: No Crank or No Start, DTC B2960 and/or B3033 Set (Replace Ignition Switch) Models: 2003-2006 Saturn ION Built Up To and Including VIN Breakpoint 6Z147837 Supercede: This bulletin is being revised to modify the Correction Information. This comment is referred to as "no crank, no start with complete power." Additional customer comments may be as follows: ^ A clicking noise may be noticed when the key is first turned to the START position, but no noise is heard after the initial start attempt. ^ The "Security" light may flash immediately after trying to start the car along with the message "Service Vehicle" in the Driver Information Center. ^ The vehicle may not start for at least 10 minutes after the first attempt to start the vehicle. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B2960 and or B3033 may be set in history in the BCM. Cause When the key is rotated from RUN to START there is a voltage signal sent to the BCM that goes through the PASSLOCK resistor in the ignition switch. This voltage signal may have an early ignition switch bounce (when going from RUN to START that the BCM interprets as a failure in the PASSLOCK system and disables the starting circuit. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y196/gearhead559/Shop%20stuff/118893370.gif Using the chart shown, verify that the ignition switch has been replaced at least once using P/N 10392423. Guest Removed
and no a remote start is not going to fix the issue. only way the bypass works its thru a remote start. the car would still have to see the signal from the key to keep it running. and it will take a good scan tool to see if these codes are stored in the history in the bcm. that read reader at autozone just dont cut it for this.
