smokin5s
I finished my basement and when we put the shower in, my plumber thought that it was a broken valve causing the shower to not work properly.. I have sense had a valve replaced under warranty and it still does not work.... so I'm looking for a plumber with reasonable rates that could help me out. PM me if you need more details. Thanks! Alex L.
My buddy's family owns a plumbing shop. They did our garage heater and are doing the plumbing in the new bathroom that's being put in my house. http://www.cruikshankplumbing.com/
smokin5s
pretty much it never kicks on when turning the valve on... if you put the cap over where the valve is supposed to be, the shower kicks on with no issue... FYI, it's a stand up stall type of shower
wnaplay1647545503
If your sure you have pressure in the line, then it must be the valve.
smokin5s
if I put the cap over where the valve piece goes, it turns on just fine, but obviously can't be turned off because there's no valve to shut it off.
wnaplay1647545503
I'm lost, or retarded.
smokin5s
the valve kit (Delta) came with this plastic cap to test to make sure everything works.... if I screw that cap in instead of the valve, it sprays out the shower head (hot and cold) but if I put in the valve, nothing comes out... at first I was told it was the valve, so I called Delta, got another valve, and it is doing the same thing. wnaplay1647545503
Have you tried manually turning the valve without the handle to make sure everything moves freely?
smokin5s
I can't take it back, all the plumbing is ran and the shower walls are already up... Dave, that would be cool if you could. PM me when is best for you
smokin5s
Have you tried manually turning the valve without the handle to make sure everything moves freely? the valve is a cartridge... I have tried turning it and it appears to turn ok... give me a few, I'll go snap some pictures and post what it is so it will make more sense. wnaplay1647545503
I have seen people place some cartridges in backwards. This usually results in hot being cold cold being hot, but is it possible you could be putting it incorrectly?
smokin5s
tried it both ways... plus there are notches in it making it difficult to put in backwards... the only weird thing is that when I put the handle on, it only will travel about 1/4 turn before it stops.... I kind of figured that it should have more travel room than that, but wouldn't know for sure. I tried messing with the one valve allowing more travel room and it didn't seem to help. wnaplay1647545503
Thats a tuffy. Hard to say without seeing it. I wonder if its possible the plumber got solder or something into the mechanism when he was sweating them.
smokin5s
no idea and I have no idea where to even look for it. would it help if I took the cover off and took pictures behind it? I can't remember how much you can see back there.
