We will be down in Bowling Green, KY this weekend so we will have to see what the word is down there. Dealers are all talk about the new GT1 and Grand-sport editions coming out soon (Still C6-based) and just talked like the only uncertainty was when the C7 would be coming out.

Jeff

I highly doubt they would discontinue the Corvette. They are GREAT cars, and offer tons of performance for the money. Lets watch Pontiac go and then see what happens next...

They did back the Camaro Z28, but that's the worst I would expect for a while.

And this is the second most idiotic, and the second worst post in the history of CR. Please go jerk off your boyfriend somewhere else, thanks.

On topic. I could see GM getting rid of the Camaro (again...) in a couple years, but I just don't see them completely axing the Corvette. They have so many repeat buyers it is insane. I fully intend for my next fun car purchase to be one a Corvette.

Come to think of it I don't think they'd axe the 'Vette either... But here's a thought - if tougher EPA standards are actually put in place, they may bring the 'Vette back... with a four-banger! Then again, we DO have V6's putting out V8 range horsepower now (ex. the V6 in the 350Z, and the V8 in the current Mustang GT).

My .02 cents...

this has been talked about with the C7. but if it were to ever happen which is highly unlikely then it would also lose alot of weight and be mid engine.

So they were actually debating this, huh? Innnnteresting. It would be an entirely different car...

I keep telling people we are going to see the return of the four cylinder Mustang, too...

Sir! I'm offended you forgot the v6 in the base model Camaro! GM is making some decent power with their direct injection v6's. I can't remember though, are they dohc? I would love to see what they could do with a DI-DOHC twin turbo v6...overkill? Haha idk.

Huh, I did negate that!! Thank you - I think that was the example I was most looking for... And yesss the V6 in the new Camaro carries DOHC's. Turbo's are probably not that far off either, as manufacturers are more likely to find cheaper and more economical ways to beef up horsepower... Could be interesting!!!
