Main3s
Well I have a new DD now. It's a 09 Subaru Impreza, nothing really fancy about it. It's got a killer 2.5 L 4 banger with 170 HP and 170 tq. But the thing handles awesome! Maybe it's because I'm use to driving a 01 Grand Prix and a 99 Dakota, but for a car with not much power it flies thru the turns. I can hit on ramps at like 75+ mph. I see why you rally guys love these cars any way, here are a few quick pics... http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie10.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie9.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie8.jpg The sport mode/ manual shift is pretty cool in this as well. Although I'm not sure it's something I'll use too often. On the test drive, I found a real nice long country road to see how fast it accelerates and... well, it's regardless, but that's not why I have. http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie7.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie4.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie3.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f279/cmaines01/Subie1.jpg Will probably tint the windows, but I think that's it for this bad boy. I'm really looking forward to our first snow. Hell I may even see how it does flying thru some cones on a road course . I can't get over how well this car takes turns... SuBieQT
good purchase, awesome cars! I got my subie from hatfield too, the service department is awesome! They are on here too and come out to meets!
TTQ B4U
Nice! 170hp isn't bad for a little four banger like that. Especially compared to the days when smaller cars like this barely came with 140hp which didn't make them much fun to drive. I think you'll be even more pleased come first snowfall. I know I wish I had AWD to help put the power of the MS3 to the ground.
Draco-REX
Woot! Great choice. You should bring it to a RallyCross and get sideways on some dirt!
Dr. Apex
The new ones are decent cars, They finally put comfortable seats in those things which I really liked. Don't plan on romping through the snow like crazy as the base models lack any locking diffs so the whole "power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip" goes to "the wheel that slips so the car won't move". My old roommate found out the hardway on that one with his 2.5i, hence why he traded it for an 09 WRX.

But even the RS won't become one-wheel drive. The center diff is still a limited slip. It's viscous and not very strong (4kg/100rpm) but it is a LSD, and has been much the same on the non-DCCD cars since forever. (The autos have a slightly different center diff, but it's essentially the same deal) Subarus are still nigh-unstoppable in the snow even with the open diffs. I wouldn't worry too much about it. OneToEnvy
Im glad to see more people on here and taking the leap to the real "other side" that body style is still growing on me, but compared to the older styles drivability wise the 09 is better IMO Good Choice enjoy it!! They are fun in the snow and rain, we had no problem really sliding the car around and the new WRX is very quick but like I tell my buddy, it's still a Wagon!! Main3s
Woot! Great choice. You should bring it to a RallyCross and get sideways on some dirt! I'm really tempted too, I actually thought about it, but I doubt it would do that well. Im glad to see more people on here and taking the leap to the real "other side" that body style is still growing on me, but compared to the older styles drivability wise the 09 is better IMO Good Choice enjoy it!! Thanks! Looks nice, are they under $20k? Yep 17,900 is what I managed it for Wooow hmmm now that you have a daily driver...start modding your gp again dammit lol I'm done with that car. When I turn 25 and the insurance drops (next year) I'm thinking Vette.... But actually now that I have the subie, I could imagine some real fun with AWD great handling and 400 AWHP! auto? check non-turbo? check Yeah, the manuals are actually cheaper, but I didn't want to shift a DD. Main3s
Is that paint metallic? Yes sir! But it's goanna be a pain to keep clean Collections are fun. Buy one and pay it off. Repeat process... Mods to your GTP? In her prime she had 3.69 gears, a 3500 satll converter, Stage 1 cam, headers, full exhaust, GEN V supercharger, upgraded valve train (titanum retainers, stronger springs) 1.6 roller rockers, tune, intake and running about 15 PSI. She ran 12.6-12.7's @ 112-114mph. If I had to guess it made about 330 at the wheels. BUT... after the 5 transmistion I said screw it. Now it's just got a few goodies on it, could maybe muster a mid 13 second pass.
