justinwebb
Put the whole thing on the case bottom its going in which is a gutted cd changer to keep the stock look in the trunk http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0031.jpg working on attaching a fan to the northbridge/graphics chip as it gets really hot without one, might have enough room for two as i dont want it to burn up http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0039.jpg CD changer top on still need to install the hard drive and power supply once i get them but this is what it will look like http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0041.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0042.jpg One intake fan near the processor and an exhaust fan on the other side http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0040.jpg YAY it turns on http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0033.jpg should give you an idea how its built
Nate1647545505
You might want to spray the board with a sealant to protect against condensation. What are you doing for a power supply?
justinwebb
using a vechicle smart power supply it waits till the car is started to turn on the pc then it waits for the car to turn off then automatically turns off the pc as if you would push the power button. Its a pretty cool setup going with a 250 watt PSU if i can get away with it

Took me a minute to figure out your cool website too haha i really had to think. Also, thanks for the advice on how to clean the camera it worked well as you can tell by the pics. I just suck at the camera still lol, as its still in the auto mode

rampage
Did you stick a screen in the factory stereo location? If so, what are you doing for radio? I've looked into these setups, but don't want to lose FM
smokinHawk1647545499
Did you stick a screen in the factory stereo location? If so, what are you doing for radio? I've looked into these setups, but don't want to lose FM they have programs and antennas for fm/am, HD, and satellite, also GPS. I think I am going to do this so i can load HPT and switch my tunes if needed when i fill up between E85 or E10 are you going to run regular windows Xp or tiny XP or something else? what front end are you going to run? justinwebb
i run a stripped version of XP that uses 150 mb of RAM and the front end i run is centrafuse it pretty much does everything except give me a blowjob. The screen is molded into my dash to look stock and my radio is relocated farther down, the advantage of having my year civic haha. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Detailing/DSC02156.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Detailing/DSC02152.jpg its a great thing to have so many options, if any one wants any help making one i have made 4 now and would be glad to help

Main3s
About how much does a set up like this cost? Using it for HPT is a great idea, but I was thinking about playing MP3's from it and just having a shit load of music... is that possible? Great work too, it looks like a really clean install! justinwebb
Bad ass! I'll probably be bugging you in a couple months about carPC set ups. cool I'll defiantly get a hold of you once the TTA is running again. hit me up any time i have had every problem one can have with them and I have had many different ideas now that i have perfected building them. I would be happy to help out others Mobile wi-fi? and also in for cost. I can tether it to my verizon phone and use it as a modem but i also have a wifi connector in my back window kinda hidden it will connect to any unsecured wifi hotspot and the front end lets me know when it connects. the parts shows have cost almost 400 just for all that but keep in mind this is pretty much top end parts, i just want to see if it can be done with a much faster system then what is currently being used. You could easily build one for 300- 400 buy buying used parts or even with how low computer prices are right now it could be had cheap for even new parts. About how much does a set up like this cost? Using it for HPT is a great idea, but I was thinking about playing MP3's from it and just having a shit load of music... is that possible? Great work too, it looks like a really clean install! lots of people use them for just mp3's and you wouldnt need anything big or fast for just that. I could easily build the pc small enough to fit right behind my screen and you would never know it was there. that would look tittys in my 5 liter... Indeed it would look like tittys and you could also watch tittys on the screen while driving haha

justinwebb
just out of sheer boreom i figured i would post up some new pics of the build. Got a new heatsink and fan and it should cool much better then the stock one did haha http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0385.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0386.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0387.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0389.jpg figured it will get quite hot in the car so figured it needed upgraded. rather not burn up the processor and seeing as how this is the fastest build i have seen done in a car pc application might as well do it right got a different case for it instead of teh cd changer idea i went with a micro atx case which i will be hiding up front, its a little smaller then a shoebox i was just worried abut temps in the trunk and it will e less wires i have in the car with it up front. Still need to put in the hard drive and such but its a start http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0392.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0393.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0395.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w264/justinwebb24/Carputer/DSC_0396.jpg i am making it removable also so if i want to take it inside and game with it (yes it runs games well i play GTA IV and crysis on it lol) its an al black case i just have the top cover removed
