My s13 240sx new build *project*

Long story short, I had a house fire jan19th that burned up everything that I ever owned and worked for in my adult life. I ended up moving back in with my parents (fiance also) to save money, sold my project car and thousands and thousands of dollars of parts that I have built up over the years and newer car that I had at the time. To save money I bought her a 98 civic and kept the truck we had that belong to her, and I used that since I only drive 3 miles total a day to and from work. I had a real hard time after the fire not for myself but for her, she had a real hard childhood being poor and just always what seems to be bad luck. Either way thanks to my parents we stayed with them till we could find a open apt. We both ended up draining our savings account buying everything from scratch. God bless we have full time good jobs or I have no idea what we would have done. Ether way late June we have everything back materialistic. I am not proud of taking donations or help from others but my family in japan is very wealthy and they put together a bunch of money and wired it back with my mother who came back in mid June . In mid June my girl told me to find a project car to get my mind off all the hard hours etc Ive been putting up with and stress. She said find someone like my last car that I could put together slow and do it the way I want. So that's when my journey started.........

Me and shawn89 from here ( BTW fucker you owe me money or my parts) leave Columbus around 9am to Tennessee. I ended up pulling a 13 hour shift going to Columbus to his grandparents to get a dolly. Ended up taking alot more time then we thought so we leave late. 5 hours later we make it to south east Tennessee. I am so picky about salt and rusty cars so I always travel down south , this was my 10th trip for a car.

The car had a spun bearing, I have no use for a 4cly motor anyways. This car will be built for street/drag car. I already buy coilovers, new griffin radiator, re do alot of the wiring for jdm climate control ect. I take off the suspension it had on it and fan set up.

I end up selling the r33 rb26dett to Tony rizzo on here, and the sr20det to a guy in dayton and then I ended up keeping rb25det in the back of my parents garage, I was trying to sell it for the longest time, but guess it works out. I will use it for my newest build. I wanted to use the 2.6 liter but im not going to go buy one when I have a decent motor here in ohio. Now im left with a shit load of parts that come from clips, good thing there are a bunch of people that take scrap now days, had guys fighting over the scrap cars.

Thanks to Hugh off ZEROYON for letting me use his dryhopp videos but the car scene on this island that only 68 miles long and 7-8 miles long out does the US any day.

Now im waiting on JEFF from IPS to call me back and let me know whats going on with my mounts, I ended up selling my old ones and now they are on some nation wide back order . I just put my stance coilovers on this past weekend but not happy with the way its sitting. I will get pic's tomorrow and how the car sit's now. Hopfully TJ from here with the yellow type R lets me borrow his engine picker so I can pull this stocker out. I will keep this updated. from engine, suspension, paint, to first time at track.

The car will be set up to run a decent tire and hopfully hook decent with the IRS.

S-TEC is making my custom t4 top mount for rb25 and then over winter I tear the engine down and place with all my bottom end stuff. Im not sure who is putting my bottom end together due to my lack of time and space. Im going to put the car together make sure everything runs good then tear it back down , paint, build and then replace.

sick writeup jason. How hard is it to put on coilovers. I want to tackle my vw but I have no clue on suspension teardowns and stuff

MkIV VW's are one of the easiest out there to do suspension work on, especially the rear coils/shocks. With a lift you can knock one out in ~ an hour if everthing goes right. I've had several GTI's/Jetta's, my current daily driver is a TDI Jetta lowered on Bilsteins and H&R Sports.

Back to the build thread, great looking 240!

indeed oki has a great car scene and beaches. used to watch them drift down the mountain before drifting was really popular here in the states.

Yeah japan rocks for drifting, not like here, ive only seen a few good events and that was in California with mostly japanese drivers. I really like the whole idea of drifting being done not at a track and illegal, dont get me wrong id never do that here in the states or risk my job, but in japan to run illegal its not a big deal like it is here. All they do there is tell you to leave like there do here if you park in a parking lot.

Its really simple to do suspension, I can do it on the ground with jacks in about an hour, prolly because ive done it so much. IF you do not have access to a lift have a buddy help you out. The only thing with a set of coilovers make sure you have all the other parts to put on with it to make sure it can be corrected like camber toe ect. Make sure you know what height and setting you are going to run, then adjust the camber and toe by eye untill you can get it on a rack. What I always do is have my whole car corner balanced as im doing everything else.

Here is my old rb coupe, I am going to keep it very similar in the looks department, I am using all OEM body pieces again, I am going to be buying another set of separate coilovers for drag that way I can have to different rebound's . Its going to have more aggressive tire at the track in the rear.

Me and my father was bored tonight and heated the garage for a bit, finished taking the intake manifold off and prepping some other stuff.
