Hyundai Sonata

I said it back in Dec 07 when we bought our van. Look out, the Koreans are getting it right.

IMO, like the Genesis, this new design looks like another Lexus knock-off. Nothing wrong with that though.

I'll likely never buy another Honda. No need. Our van has been every bit as good as our Oddy if not better.

BAH beat me to the Solara...looks almost identical. Not an original idea out there anymore recently.....

Or the VW CC from the rear:

Interior is pretty sharp too. Kinda Acura like at first glancehttp://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/12/2011hyundaisonata021.jpg

Word. I love my Sedona, specifically how it was half the price of an Odyssey and nearly as good.

I said on another forum that this new Sonata is a TSX killer. Base engine in both is a 200hp, 2.4L 4-cyl, the Sonata has all the same options and will likely cost 5-7k less. I have no doubt that the turbo version will compete well against the V6.

Acura's never tried to compete with ze germans, instead enjoying a little niche for bargain luxury, but Hyundai is zooming into that niche with a fury.

It's almost fun just trying to find what styling cues the Koreans have stolen/borrowed in each of their cars. This one, for example:

Solara front, VW rear, Mercedes side/beltline, Acura interior. Not bad looking, but I still feel I'd be driving a knockoff. I understand almost every car shares some styling cues with another, but the Koreans seem to generally make is so obvious. When they can stop doing that, I believe their legitimacy will increase and their cars will stand more on their own. The transition from "cheap car that I think people will think looks like a more popular, expensive one when i buy it" to "I'm going to buy this car even though I can afford another brand simply based on it's merits and unique styling".

I like it, and I hope they give it a stick shift.

It's being offered with a 6 speed manual. ;)

I like it for what it is, A 3100lb Big sedan with comfort, a but of luxury and sport. Plus them having the smarts to offer it with 6 speed manual, and 34mpg highway = win.

Show me. The article said only the lowest version GLS would have a true manual..
