zeitgeist57
This would be for Cleetus, who doesn't have any stereo system in him right now. The fact that it's a Sony doesn't mean much, as it doesn't get more bottom-basement in price than this; I wouldn't expect anything but basic sound quality and hopefully halfway decent radio reception. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=12531485 Anyone install this kit on their car? Know anything about the headunit? My only problem with this is that I'd have to cut into the metal dash, as it still is set up for an old-school dual post AM-FM radio... Stimmel1647545512
do you have to order it online or can you go into any walmart and get that good of a deal?
zeitgeist57
The Walmart on Bethel and Sawmill has a display that has them for $70...cheaper than online...
Guest Removed
dont cut the dash up . put the mounting box under the dash, or put it in the glove box.
Kevin R.
My buddy bought this package for his truck. Sounded alright at first. Nothing special -- but nothing bad. The headunit works as expected -- once again -- nothing special. I think the speakers have started to sound kind of crackly but I doubt you will listen to your music that loud. wnaplay1647545503
Are you looking to upgrade from whats there or is there no radio currently? iwashmycar
i suppose if you dont care about looks.... doesnt seem like a beater truck, but ive not seen it in person. I wouldnt either
zeitgeist57
I have no radio currently. The only other dual shaft-style deck I've found is the Dual XC4100. I don't want to cut the dash either, but the only shaft radios available now are high-end, "restoration" decks that are hundreds of dollars. I really only need an FM radio for NPR; don't really care about CD/aux input/subwoofers etc...
KillJoy
I would not cut your truck for THIS. However, if you are handy, you could make a floor console out of MDF that could store the Speakers and Head Unit. KillJoy

Xyster101
Can't beat the price with 4 speakers and a head unit. For NPR, that is all you need. That set up will do ok with music too. It will sound ok until you hear something better. I drove around with 2 5.5" speakers in my truck for 3 years, sounded fine to me.
Nitrousbird
You get what you pay for. I bought a pair of low-end Sony Marine speakers for the boat. They lasted exactly one day. That's why there are MUCH nicer speakers in it now.
nurkvinny
Looks like a good deal for just getting some tunes in your truck. Go for it. Clay, I don't know anything about those specific pieces, but doesn't sound like you can beat it for the money. Just realize that you are buying cheap stuff and it may last you forever or it may break very soon. If that's a gamble you want to take, then go for it. KillJoy
You know Clay.... I think I have a nicer set of JBL 4" from a LONG time ago. If you get a headunit on the CHEAP... you can have them. You have to pick them up though. KillJoy
customhillbilly
I installed this for a buddy over the weekend in a civic. We just put in the head unit in and it sounded fine. comes with a remote and a midi input for ipods or other mp3 players. Great deal for the money and you get a decent warranty
