I agree with that. The sad thing is there are many on both sides of the race that perpetuate ignorance.

The saddest part of Obamas presidency is he has killed the chance for another black man/woman to be president for at least a generation. There are many ignorant people who will think " we tried a black person once, and we got a socialist. No way am I voting for _______."

Sad but true.

Except he isn't black. He is half black, just like he is half white. Calling him black is white america's way of convincing themselves they aren't racist while mainting the thought process of "you are still one of them."

It's sad that the whole race thing is brought up whenever you hear about him. I couldn't care less whether is he black, yellow, peach, brown, or puple, as long as he does what needs done.

I think everyone expected too much, too fast from him for his term to even have a chance with a lot of people. Most expected the economy, health care and employment all to go from shit to perfect all within his first few months.

Thats because he was tossing out promises for these things like they were jolly ranchers on Trick or Treat night. Promises he couldn't keep. Just like everyone else.

I don't give a crap the color of the exterior. The interior is tarnished and rusted. Decades of lies, empty promises, and scandals. I'm tired of giving people the easy life. I, from this point on, will not vote for anyone, at any level, for any position, if they have served a term already UNLESS they have single handily done something so drastic to improve our country and our economy that it would be stupid for me not to.

Career politicians of every race, religion, creed, and political party are whats wrong with our country. The people no longer have the power.

Passing the largest healthcare reform bill ever?

seriously?? he didn't pass it, he jammed it down everyone's throat. that bill will completely mess this country up, guaranteed. its a blatant paycut for me and everyone else in the healthcare industry. i just hope people in my field have the sack to team up and either 1)go on strike, or 2)unionize. imagine if you took a loved one to the hospital in an emergency and no one was there--everyone decided to go on a two week vacation. name another profession that has seen steady pay cuts every single year since the 80's

change.

Um it's July 23rd 2010.

When you file at the end of this year , it will be placed on your tax forms as earned income. Just like you cashed out a 401 k or something similiar .

The tax on health benefits is retroactive . I am not sure how it will be for next year.

My accountant was explaining all the new taxes for this year and the next few years and it seems like ALOT of things are going to be taxed that was not previously taxed.

I am sure he never uses the half black thing to his advantage. I can see it now. " Now all you people of color, remember I am half white."

I am not saying he doesn't. What I am saying is calling him black is ridiculous. By using the same logic one would just as easily refer to him as white. If he is our 1st black president then he is also our 44th white president. That's all I am saying.

Own a successful business that employs 40 people and make more money. Then you'll know why people are bitching.

So this impacts 12 of the 1000's of people on this site (which scaled to a bigger size would be close to the overall impact to Americans). Of the 12 only 5 complain but 25 are involved in the bitching session. I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are not one of them but your brothers sisters cousin is so thats why you felt the need to reply to me.

I guess with the money they save by hiring illegal immigrants and out-sourcing overseas the bigger companies kinda break even...

I dont know about you but I have never encountered a situation where a poor person created jobs. This whole "have and have not mentality" needs to stop. Life is not fair, but if you cant make it in the USA, you have other motivational issues. The people in higher incomes should have certain tax advantages this is what drives them to achieve more and grow business creating more jobs.

So you feel that because you make more you should pay less?

why dont you do what others do go to walmart where you expect more and pay less

Also... My income places me in the upper class bracket and I'm not seeing this huge impact that you guys are bitching about.

Watch the first 20 seconds and tell me if you don't fucking fall out of your chair and want to punch him in the face.

That's not what he is saying. Those of us that make good money, have their own businessnes and create success shouldn't be paying more than we already are for those that do not. My wife's practice does well, but if she earns another $xx dollars, we pay even more taxes thus reducing that amount of gain by a substancial amount. He's essencially living up to his vid that I posted above. "you've made enough" and if you want to make more, that's cool....but I'm going to take a large amount of that extra money and give it to others that I feel "deserve" support. FUCK THAT!

FUCK SUPPORTING the lazy! I don't need to pay tax on my health benefits to fund benefits for someone who doesn't have them. Get a fucking job that pays for them or pay for them on your own if you aren't offered them. Simple as that. If I see another "poor person" walking around with an iPhone, playing an X-Box, spending money of beer or smokes, I'm going to punch them in the face with my health care plan.

Drop the fucking smokes, put down the brownie and walk a mile or two every day and you'll be 200% less likely to even see a doctor. Not me, my wife or two kids has been to a doctor in nearly two years. We just plain take care of ourselves.

+1000

if you look at the people who currently don't have health insurance, they are much more likely to be massively obese, smoke cigarettes, and engage in unhealthy/risky behaviors, that lead to hospitalization---this is a fucking fact.

the more i work, the more the government takes from me to give to people listed above.

I think Obama has done a poor job.

That said, is there anyone here that thinks Bush did a good job? Or even an okay job? If you think that, you are officially an idiot.

Bush did a worse job than Obama...that doesn't excuse Obama for what he has done, but he is at least a slight improvement. McCain was our other choice, and he was clearly another Bush. Throw in that retarded Palin broad (if you supported her, you need a fucking punch in the face). What choice did the country really have?

Hopefully our country has a better choice the next go around. Obama has always been simply the lesser of two evils - how did anyone expect great things from him?

Seems like you've been drinking the punch too. Personally, I had the pleasure of serving under President Bush, and personally he was an amazing Commander in Chief. If you really thought McCain was another Bush, maybe you're the true idiot in this. Personally, you seem to be the type that wasn't happy with one side, so to right that, you thought it upon yourself to go to the other side. Obviously, you saw the wrong in this atleast. Nothing is ever 100% right, but maybe one day people will wise up and keep liberals out of power.

Along with Kirk, I will +1 on this.

Get a job, plain and simple. Funny that all the jobs I've ever had, I've always had health coverage. Silly how that works, since the medical profession is also a business in itself. You make money, pay them money, and you live to see another day.

Obama is a socialist zealot. Sums it up.

Has the rest of the modern world not already tried the social programs he is implementing? Yes. Has the rest of the modern world realized that those methods do not work? Yes. Europe is a great place....

Here's an excellent artical that is now running on the yahoo home page as take from The Business Insider. I've said it before, I think we need to shut down the borders and bring production of our goods consumed here back home. Build it here and buy it here. Make the best products around and make others buy them from us.

We need to reverse the fact that American workers are no longer just competing against each other. We need to prevent the rest of the worlds poor and hungry from bringing us down to their level.

Editor's note: Michael Snyder is editor of theeconomiccollapseblog.com

The 22 statistics detailed here prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence in America.

The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer at a staggering rate. Once upon a time, the United States had the largest and most prosperous middle class in the history of the world, but now that is changing at a blinding pace.

So why are we witnessing such fundamental changes? Well, the globalism and "free trade" that our politicians and business leaders insisted would be so good for us have had some rather nasty side effects. It turns out that they didn't tell us that the "global economy" would mean that middle class American workers would eventually have to directly compete for jobs with people on the other side of the world where there is no minimum wage and very few regulations. The big global corporations have greatly benefited by exploiting third world labor pools over the last several decades, but middle class American workers have increasingly found things to be very tough.

Here are the statistics to prove it:

• 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of 1 percent of the people.

• 61 percent of Americans "always or usually" live paycheck to paycheck, which was up from 49 percent in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007.

• 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans.

• 36 percent of Americans say that they don't contribute anything to retirement savings.

• A staggering 43 percent of Americans have less than $10,000 saved up for retirement.

• 24 percent of American workers say that they have postponed their planned retirement age in the past year.

• Over 1.4 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009, which represented a 32 percent increase over 2008.

• Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income to match the rise in housing costs since 1975.

• For the first time in U.S. history, banks own a greater share of residential housing net worth in the United States than all individual Americans put together.

• In 1950, the ratio of the average executive's paycheck to the average worker's paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one.

• As of 2007, the bottom 80 percent of American households held about 7% of the liquid financial assets.

• The bottom 50 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation’s wealth.

• Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008.

• In the United States, the average federal worker now earns 60% MORE than the average worker in the private sector.

• The top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America's corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago.

• In America today, the average time needed to find a job has risen to a record 35.2 weeks.

• More than 40 percent of Americans who actually are employed are now working in service jobs, which are often very low paying.

• or the first time in U.S. history, more than 40 million Americans are on food stamps, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that number will go up to 43 million Americans in 2011.

• This is what American workers now must compete against: in China a garment worker makes approximately 86 cents an hour and in Cambodia a garment worker makes approximately 22 cents an hour.

• Approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010 - the highest rate in 20 years.

• Despite the financial crisis, the number of millionaires in the United States rose a whopping 16 percent to 7.8 million in 2009.

• The top 10 percent of Americans now earn around 50 percent of our national income.

Giant Sucking Sound

The reality is that no matter how smart, how strong, how educated or how hard working American workers are, they just cannot compete with people who are desperate to put in 10 to 12 hour days at less than a dollar an hour on the other side of the world. After all, what corporation in their right mind is going to pay an American worker 10 times more (plus benefits) to do the same job? The world is fundamentally changing. Wealth and power are rapidly becoming concentrated at the top and the big global corporations are making massive amounts of money. Meanwhile, the American middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence as U.S. workers are slowly being merged into the new "global" labor pool.

What do most Americans have to offer in the marketplace other than their labor? Not much. The truth is that most Americans are absolutely dependent on someone else giving them a job. But today, U.S. workers are "less attractive" than ever. Compared to the rest of the world, American workers are extremely expensive, and the government keeps passing more rules and regulations seemingly on a monthly basis that makes it even more difficult to conduct business in the United States.

So corporations are moving operations out of the U.S. at breathtaking speed. Since the U.S. government does not penalize them for doing so, there really is no incentive for them to stay.

What has developed is a situation where the people at the top are doing quite well, while most Americans are finding it increasingly difficult to make it. There are now about six unemployed Americans for every new job opening in the United States, and the number of "chronically unemployed" is absolutely soaring. There simply are not nearly enough jobs for everyone.

Many of those who are able to get jobs are finding that they are making less money than they used to. In fact, an increasingly large percentage of Americans are working at low wage retail and service jobs.

But you can't raise a family on what you make flipping burgers at McDonald's or on what you bring in from greeting customers down at the local Wal-Mart.

The truth is that the middle class in America is dying -- and once it is gone it will be incredibly difficult to rebuild.
