need a place to shoot longer distance

what range has the longest distance to shoot thats only 30 minutes or so from columbus.

 

I found this but these are only ones available to the public, if there is a private club with a nice range i'd consider that as well.

Place out in west jeff is 300 I think. Idk. I shoot at my parents property, so I got 700+ if I needed it.

There are a couple, but they are pretty well-guarded secrets. A lot of them you have to know someone to get in. None of the ones I know of are anywhere close to CENTRAL OH.

As many of you know, on June 14, 2010, Battelle Memorial Institute filed for and received a temporary restraining order in Madison County Common Pleas Court to shut down range operations, based on an allegation that bullets were escaping from the range and striking its property. A preliminary injunction hearing was held on July 21-23, 2010 and we are waiting on Judge Nichols' decision as to whether the range can re-open, and if so, under what conditions.

Zanesville Rifle Club has a NICE 300 yard range about an hour out from Columbus...south of Zanesville in Blue Rock State Park area. Really nice range with drop-down frames. It's a private club, and a little hard to get ahold of the people running it.

They are more geared to cmp and nra service rifle matches and the range is closed a lot on the weekends. When I have gone during the week there is rarely another person there. It is also only 35 bucks I think for a year membership.

Sandusky County Sportsman Club is very nice and has full time 500, 300, 100 and 70 yard ranges, trap area, and a huge "Old Western" town that they use for special organized competitions/events. Great place but is a good distance from Columbus.

 

Saber's in Lima, OH has a full time 200 yard range and converts it to a 300 yard range on a regular basis for different shooting events.

I looked into this place and it seemed like a decent facility. It's pretty cheap to join. It's not really far from here, but it's kind of a haul from Columbus. The only reason I didn't join was that it seemed like everyone was way older than me and they all basically sat around in the clubhouse reading the paper and gossiping. They have a 200 yard range and a 400 in the works.
