I have an HD DVR. When I record two shows at the same time, I can't watch anything else other than those two channels. When I'm only recording one I can do whatever. Is this the norm for everyone else? Just kinda sucks because the reason I record stuff is to fast forward through the commercials. No matter what I do it wants me to watch one of the two I'm recording.

That is how my parents TWC DVR box works. When they had 2 boxes I know they could record 2 and watch a third. I do not know if they could record a third and watch a fourth or not.

I have realized over the last few days that I have the same issue with our wow dvr. Kinda surprising it doesnt make sense.

Yes. Thats the way it works. I think ATT allows you to record up to 3 while watching a fourth. But their internet is junk and slow.

That's the way WOW has always been. We have had them for several years and our DVR is the same way.

Wow guys, can you flip through the channels and have the box keep up with the speed your clicking? Mine use to but now does not and always takes a minute to catch up.

This isn't a problem - the box has two tuners. You can only tune into two programs at a time - meaning you could record two programs, and either watch one of the two being recorded, or watch something that was previously recorded.

 

Time Warner is the same way (uses the same boxes too).

DirecTv is the same, 2 tuners. Get a second box, You could record 3 and watch 1, just plug it into another HDMI on the TV and switch inputs.

It's not really a problem. Just kind of a bummer. There's only one day I record two shows at once. If that happens I just turn on the 360 or do something else.

Tivo is the same way.. if you are recording on two channels you cant watch anythign else. If you think about it, it make sense.

 

if you are Recording TV, though, shouldnt you have something else to watch while those are recording?

I know we are never with out TV, because something is always recorded and waiting for us

You can also buy a $30 antenna and get regular free over the air HD 4,6,10,28, switch to the Tv input on the TV while the DVR records.

I use AT&T, we have 4 tuners, two boxes, phone, and our speed is faster than Insight was. We get that package fort the same price we had Insight with one box and no phone.
