I was skeptical as well, but whatever masonry anchors he bought held great, because I hung my 190 pound self from the mount before we placed the TV and it didn't budge. Ok its not pop can metal, but still not the most sturdy thing. Oh well if it falls and breaks then i guess I got my money out of it. Its 6 years old and i paid $300 for it. FST94TSI Posted March 1, 2011 Report Share Posted March 1, 2011 Man I've got my 63" mounted on the wall and you can do pull ups all day long from it no issues. I install at least three flat screens a week and I've never had one come down. The whole key as stated above is to make sure you hit the studs. Anchors can work but without hitting studs it's a crapshoot. As for the metal on the mount being thin don't worry it's the way the weight is distributed that makes the difference. I usually find the studs, pre drill the holes with a small drill bit, then usually use bolts that require a 12mm socket and ratchet. But unless you have an LED-LCD, don't bother - it is a huge PITA to install because the TV sits so close to the wall, and hard to get the wires behind it recessed enough. Use a .75" - 1.5" mount instead of this .3" mount with thicker TV's. I have it mounted into two studds, no problem.
