I am looking for one that has a longer handle, not the shorter one. I am also looking for one under $100 (if possible) It needs to be somewhat low profile, but not an absolute requirement..... I just bought this one from Harbor Freight but it STRUGGLED to just lift one side of the car and I returned it http://www.harborfreight.com/rapid-pump-15-ton-compact-aluminum-racing-jack-68053-html-7814.html .......therefore the search continues...... any help is appreciated.......thanks! downingracing Posted April 15, 2011 Report Share Posted April 15, 2011 I've got both the HF and Jegs jacks. The Jegs jack 'feels' better than the HF jack, but both do the job just fine. The internals will leak and Craftsman will not warranty them, they cost as much to replace as the jack cost. Or, the u-joint at the base of the handle will brake and you'll have no way of raising, or more importantly lowering it (several guys had it break with their car in the air, and couldn't get it down). Mine is a Harbor Freight jack. Was more than $100, but is low profile, and lifts high enough to get jack stands under the car. I started to have some problems with it last time I used it though, think it's starting to leak. Then again I was jacking up the broken frame of a manure spreader so I could weld the two pieces back together. All in all I've been happy with my Harbor Freight jack. Edit: I looked mine up on the HF website. Mine is going for $199 right now, it is the one with the square lifting pad. Crossle Posted April 17, 2011 Report Share Posted April 17, 2011 Just passing through, but we have Snap-On's jack and have used it in a shop setting for about 5+ years and it doesn't leak....have to lube it once and awhile, but it has grease zerks to make it easy. It still drags you across the shop if you get it going to fast and try to stop it rolling lol. Obviously due to being associated with the Snap-On name I'm sure it is absurdly expensive.
