1TrueSS Posted July 28, 2011 Report Share Posted July 28, 2011 I think my blower motor is dyeing in my air/furnace unit at home. I have had this problem at my condo and turned out to be a simple capacitor, but this unit does not have a capacitor. I have to manually start the blower with my hand in order to have it kick on. Other wise it just hums! Then when it does start it only runs for a couple minutes and slowing dies out to a hum again. It is smells hot and is hot to the touch. Were is the best place to get a new one? I went to the Sears place on Cleveland Ave and Ferris Rd for the capacitor and a relay, but thought I would ask on here before I go back. I have a brand-spanking-new 240volt motor (problem turned out to be my capacitor), not sure if it will fit your housing/fan but it's worth a shot. Other then that I think Grainger is like the only place I can think of to purchase items like that and they aren't open to the public, but they often can make exceptions. 1TrueSS Posted July 28, 2011 Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2011 No capacitor. I went ahead and went back to Sears on Cleveland Ave and bought a universal 1/4hp 3.5amp 3 speed motor for $110. About $100 cheaper then I was expecting. Had to get a capacitor for it too. So far it is working like a charm! I was in the area and had the old motor with me. Thanks for the help though. Never thought to call them for HVAC issues as I don't consider HVAC an appliance, but yea, I would guess they stock HVAC related stuff too.
