Cars & Coffee 08-20-2011

Here are a few from today's meet. Turnout was pretty good. Even towards 10:30-11:00am there were people rolling in to join us. Lots of non-CR folks too. Word is getting out!

I don't even care if the interior gives Jones an aneurism, that Viper is car perfection

It was nice. Interior wasn't bad. However, a triple black Z06 gives me wood more so. Surprisingly the Viper didn't sound deep or loud. Had nice stock side pipes. The best sound today came from the Teal Fox Body and then the 289. The Fox is on CR I think.

Teal fox is not on here. He is a buddy of mine from high school. He bought that car when we were in hs. (Class of 94) it has a 347stroker. Everything is redone on it. Super clean car.

I am the one that brought a lot of the non Cr ppl out today.

Yellow boss

Orange dune buggy

Black gt500 vert

teal fox body

red 69 camaro

I had 3 more that that were supposed to show. But they pussed out

Nice! You're the official recruiter for C&C that's for sure. The teal Fox Body sounded oh so nice. Clean as can be. That 69 Camaro was bad ass too. I didn't get many good shots of it though.

I took a few shots, but mine never look as good as Tim's. I need more practice, actually I need more time to practice. Enjoy a few.

^^^ Great pic. Better than mine as you captured the best expressions and faces. With kids that's tough as they are fast! I took 4 in a row and still didn't get a money shot like you did. Just apply a few edits and you're good.

If you're interested in one tip to practice on for next time, it's to keep horizon's straight. In this case the other tip would be to have popped up your built in flash, dial down it's Flash Exposure Value to -1 to -2 and use it as fill flash since the subjects are back lit. It will eliminate shadows, even out exposure and put a nice catch light in their eyes. I know you have a kit lens, but opening it up will help blur the background. The bokeh in this edit would be better given a different lens used, but I combined it with a bit of a glow to match the edge treatment. Again, great shot.

That guy with the Solstice is always there. Everyone has their own opinions. I don't like them, but they are interesting to look at.

Tim,

I tried to have the camera all the way open. I think I had a f-5 or f-5.6. She did not want to open more and I don't know why. I blurred the background some in PS, but not enough. You made that picture look great. Thanks for the tips on the horizon and I will try some flash work next time. Flash work is hard, but I know what you are saying about a little fill light from it.

Tom is cool as hell. The wheels are definitely not something I would pick even if they were $1. However, if you spend just a bit of time with Tom, you'll get that humor behind them. The reactions here are what it's about. Hell, the guy has a great set of rides and if he can afford to do that to a great car, then I think that alone trumps our opinion. Again, that's Tom.

It's a kit lens where the f-stop varies depending on the focal length. You did nothing wrong.

That explains things. Thanks.

Thank you. Yep, just keep things straight and I'll show you a couple things on fill flash. Andy fired his here in this shot while out with his new camera. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1422364&postcount=6

I edited it a bit (original is in his post there). However, all he has to do is use a little - FEV and with bright sun like he was facing at 2:30pm, dial down the EV too.
