Farkas
...Plus, that $1300 is a good start on rims/tires, coilovers, etc.. This is my plan. If I want HIDs and etc. I'll just buy some BRZ items and retrofit them.
airwg2189
Just give me a six-speed manual transmission, HID's, alcantara seat inserts(might just add later), dual-zone automatic climate control system(Audi has me in love with it), fog lights, body-color decklid spoiler(if it has one), keyless entry and I'm set! Not sure if trolling or srs...
Hahn
The car looks good, its RWD and its as cheap as your going to get a new car these days for what it offers. I think its a good starting point with plenty of room for potential (HP). Could be fun and nimble. just my 2cents.
zeitgeist57
Saw this on Monday at Eastpointe Kroger off of E. Broad... http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=664&pictureid=6020 Have to admit, it does look a lot better in person. Except that the design is so BUSY: fake fender vents, wierd geometric shapes in the rear, that stupid exposed plastic bar in the front bumper, small design curves, coves and bumps... Draco-REX
Yeah, the black bar over the bumper beam is a styling choice that no one likes. Though Subaru isn't the only company to do that *cough*Audi*cough*.

Though Subaru isn't the only company to do that *cough*Audi*cough*. At least Audi is piano black...smooth and finished. http://www.instablogsgallery.com/gallery/2007/08/27/audi-avant-rs6-image-2_59.jpg Hyundai is the frooty company making them big and plasticky. http://www.automozio.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/2011-Hyundai-Sonata-Hybrid-Front-View.jpg Please do the world a favor and spend a few bucks to prime and paint that abhorration. WORST.STYLING.FEATURE.TODAY. I mean, you even go through the effort to put a repeated design element right above the bumper...IN CHROME EVEN! Makes the plastic stand out even more! :fuuuu: http://stwot.motortrend.com/files/2012/01/2013-Hyundai-Genesis-Coupe-front-view-623x389.jpg http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2012/01/06-2013-hyundai-veloster-turbo-1326068308.jpg Edited April 6, 2012 by zeitgeist57
Draco-REX
It still interrupts the grill with a flat black bar. Maybe if it was body-color it wouldn't be so bad. But with the surround going from the top part to the bottom uninterrupted it just doesn't look right. If you want it to look like one big grill, then don't interrupt the grillwork. Audi does have some grills without the black bar front and center, but they don't do that with all of their cars. And, yeah, there are a lot of car companies that do this questionable styling cue. I rag on Audi because as a high dollar marque, it shouldn't be settling for cheap plastic covers. I hated it on the BRZ until I saw it in person. I still don't like it, but it's easier to ignore in person and with a plate on it. I'll also have a black car so it won't sand out as much. I may play with photoshop and see what it might look like body color. Or I could go CF whore on it and wrap it in the 3M CF vinyl.

And if people don't like it now...just wait until it starts to fade in the next 5-7 years...
Aaron
Of all the ugly on that car, the front plastic bar is getting the most attention?

Draco-REX
FR-S doesn't have that stupid black embossed bar up front Yeah, which makes the one on the BRZ twice as absurd. It's like the designer thought we wouldn't notice it. :dumb:
IVRINGS
It's like the designers wanted us to buy the cheaper model! I hope TRD gets in on this and makes a nice front bumper replacement.
Draco-REX
It's like the designers wanted us to buy the cheaper model! I hope TRD gets in on this and makes a nice front bumper replacement. There are already tons of body kits and front bumpers in the works. Some are good. Most are ok. A couple are downright dumb looking. MS3 anyone? http://cdn.mkimg.carview.co.jp/minkara/photo/000/003/039/364/3039364/p1.jpg?ct=d827080222a7
IVRINGS
I know, but TRD likes to keep it simple and clean for the most part. Taking the TRD Cavalier front and making it fit would be nice if you ask me.

Draco-REX
Well, seems 200hp isn't so little to keep people from racing these. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4786 Gazoo racing is taking two rally-prepped GT-86s (alongside a LF-A) racing in the 24hrs of Nurburgring. Most of the weight reduction was re-added, I'm sure, by the FIA cage. But they are hitting the track with the stock 200hp. Can't wait to see how they do. Draco-REX
Got someone to take a crack at a blue one. The black one will be difficult. And I'm trying to get them to do a white one too since that seems to be a popular color around here. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=6052&d=1333731207 Not sure if I like it... CF wrap is an option too... But without other CF stuff on the car, I'm not sure it would look right.

Draco-REX
delayed double.. As for the donut wheels, the Japan market gets a stripped-out version. There's an even more stripped version that has unpainted bumpers and only the bare minimum of interior.
