And Pontiac Fiero says "hey, its not my fault that too many idiots got a hold of me, and put horrible body kits on me, and sorry if I wasnt fast enough! Its my biggest fault, but I still can look good!"

I am a firm believer that if GM had not screwed the pooch on the powertrain, the Fiero could have been greatly successful. Well, the instrument cluster was pretty hideous too if you have ever seen one...

This one looks pretty freaking awesome!

that is a seriously good looking Fiero

a close friend of mine from Haiti (who only 5 years I learned was a cousin......small world) has the only Fiero in the nation's capital

It's a pretty sweet one too in minty condition, all stock and last I knew not running due to some failed starter

Eh, the end of the C3 doesn't do it for me as much as the earlier cars, the early C4's didn't either, but I have seen some good looking ones. I have always liked the Fiero, and they weren't all slow. The 88's were supposedly as fast as the C4 around some of GM's handling tracks, but that car didn't live long. The yellow car you posted is a full tube chassis IMSA replica. The guy put a ton of work into it.

I had one of the 88 GT's and yes, it handled amazing. No power steering, and I loved it. Had the staggered fitment mesh wheels, de-cat, and sounded great.

Admittedly, not used to mid engine's snap oversteer, and coming from usually driving AWD, it did several 180's in the rain while I was getting used to driving it.

Still laugh looking back how much fun that car was.

It's a shame the 88's were cancelled and those updates didn't come earlier. It was the first year it got its own suspension. The rest of the model years it was just a Chevette suspension. The 2.8 V6 was ok, but it never got a worthy engine either. It was supposedly handicapped since nothing was allowed to be faster than the Vette, which is why it didn't get the 3800. Even the 1984 Indy Pace Car had a 230+ HP four cylinder, but the production cars got the Iron Duke.

So much was changed on the 88's both the I4 & V6 were slightly different motors. Vented discs on all 4 corners, staggered wheels and all kinds of stuff.

Ever try to find a front wheel bearing for an 88GT?

They don't exist..

Guys have gotten group buys together and had custom ones made in small batches for $$$$$$. It's a bearing specified to the 88GT, which, given the car, spares were only made for a short time, and then none were left.

Anyone following Ralph Gilles on twitter would have seen that he's doing a tour around the country right now in a brand new Viper GTS, and he's stopping along the way at some dealerships and also some Viper Club members houses. So far he's gone from Detroit to Miami (through the snow), down tto the keys, and now he's on his way to LA. While in Texas today he stopped at a Viper Club members house and posted these pics of the "garage:"
