nice, I was thinking about getting 18" wider for looks, and pick up used set of 17" rpf1 for fun use.

Currently talking to some friends overseas if they have any connections to Japanese parts

Thinking about 5axis kit, lowering(don't know which since basically noone makes them)

Ok, I'm pretty much committed to a set of these:

WedsSport TC105n 17x8+42 in Titanium Bronze.

I'll bolt them up to see how they look and make a final decision about powdercoat.

thats going to look great.

Those wheels should look nice.

Reading up about the car, I didn't realize they adopted the hokey Toyota fuel system. It uses direct injection for idle and cruise, then has a supplemental port injection system for additional fueling. This means the high static compression ratio require premium (where pure DI would probably be fine with regular) and bolting on a power adder should/could be as easy as tuning the secondary injectors.

I heard one guy talking about how STi front control arms could be swapped, rear suspension is similar, etc. but I don't know how true that is or if it would do anything.

I'm starting to really like this car.

Front control arms off the 08+ might work. But for packaging reasons they are reversed in the BRZ/FR-S. So I'm not sure if the bushings would need to be flipped or not.

Rear suspension is the same type of design, but there aren't a lot of directly swappable parts that I know of. However the rear sway bar and endlinks are a direct swap. THe problem with the sway is that, because the BRZ's CG is so low, the stock rear sway is only 14mm. Going to a STI sway would be a HUGE increase in roll stiffness and would likely result in snap oversteer.

I think so, too. Many people use a sway bar as a major suspension mod when a properly setup suspension will only use a sway to tune, so to speak.

I know that's not explained in enough depth in such a short explanation.

Wheels should be here by the end of the month.

I think they might be too lightly colored for the look I want. But I guess I can get them powdercoated. Ultimately what it came down to was, they are a 15lb (possibly sub-15) wheel that looks good.

It would be tough to do a short explanation since it would involve CG height, weight transfer, roll and instantaneous centers, roll couple, and corner rates. ;)

But I really think this is a chassis that will respond to better spring rates to control body roll than sway bars. But we'll see when I go to 250lb/in springs and sticky tires.

Speaking of which, saw a great handling comparison. I'll post the video.

I kinda feel bad hating on the "lack of power" these have when I realize they put down nearly the horsepower of a stock fox 5.0L Mustang (though at nearly half the torque).

Still, it seems every other new sports car makes 250+ so I still think they missed the technology boat a little. I realize that drag racing and mad tyte drifting aren't really their focus with this car though. It's going to be great for the aftermarket parts manufacturers.

No one's really sure. But it does crop up in other GDI engines. Some think it's due to changes in cam timing coupled with a change in injector logic. If the open source tuning community cracks the ECU, I think we'll get a good idea on what's causing it and whether it's a good idea to try and tune it out or not.

The thing is, I don't see a huge need to tune it out. It's a dip in power, but it's in an area that doesn't need to be utilized. Around town driving can easily be handled by the low end torque lump and performance driving can be served by the high end.

Wow, that is a huge dip in the torque curve! My guess is as good as yours; either due to bad cam timing or a change in the injector logic. It's not due to the DI, but it could be how/when it transitions from solely DI to DI+PI during power enrichment. Does anyone have WB02 data from a pull? If there's not a huge rich spike it's probably due to cam or spark timing.

The AFRs stay pretty stable and end up a bit on the rich side.

Well, I'm happy I didn't pull the trigger on the OZ Alleggeritas.

The gold doesn't help, but the design would have bothered me to no end.

That's called fitment fail.

Well, they aren't hella flush...

Those are 17x8+48, so essentially stock offset, but 1" wider. He also put the stock tires back on them. :dumb:

Mine should be 6mm out more and with 20mm wider tires. That should fill the fenders more. I could get +35s to fit, but I didn't want to change the steering feel too much.

Yours are -6mm than those? Looking at the picture there's at least 25mm extra to spare to make them flush.

C'mon dude, that's failboat. Widening the track is only going to help the steering feel, I'm not sure what you're thinking, dude.

Increasing the scrub radius can reduce steering feel making it heavier on-center. It wouldn't have been overly bad, the STI has the same change in offset (+40 vs +53), but there are certain aspects to increasing the scrub radius that I don't want on the BRZ.

Well, here's the fitment.

These are the same tires (235/40-17 Yoko AD08) and the rims are the same size and offset (17x8+42). Can't wait to get my rims!

Now imagine that in black, with the WedsSports, and lowered about 1" (-30mm F / -20mm R)
