New Daily - 2013 Jetta SportWagen

So after driving the Audi A6 for a few years I was getting restless for a manual daily driver. I didn't want a sedan and have always liked wagons so my options were a bit limited. Looked into several vehicles like Subarus, etc. and decided on a Jetta. One problem that was driving me a bit crazy (ask Aaron, haha)... was that was the new platform Golf (which the US Jetta Wagon is based on, not the American Jetta) is due out in about a year. I figured I could drive this for a few years then get into the new one if I wanted. Nobody knows when the wagon will actually arrive in the US anyway.

I did not want a TDI, nav, leather, sunroof, etc. Just a base model. Surprising the SportWagen in base trim is VERY nice with bluetooth, heated cloth seats (odd?) etc. The 2.5L inline 5 isn't bad. I was worried with only a 5-speed it would feel like it needed another gear... but the ratios are really good and 5th is pretty low RPM on the highway.

3 pedals is all I need anyway...

The wheels pretty much suck. Plans are to go aftermarket.

Mods:

35% ceramic tint within a week or so. 15% on the rear hatch.

17 or 18" wheels with new rubber. I have a bunch of options I will post soon.

Coilovers depending on how the wheels look. Next summer probably.

Thule bars already on.

Trim, roof rails, etc is already matte black.

22ple coating next weekend.

Already 303 fabric gaurded the interior.

Welcome to 20 years ago.

I like it. Those are great for a daily. The SportWagen is the higher trim of the Jetta choices and seemed to have more options and nicer all around.

Looking good man.

nice pickup. should be super handy. I didn't care much for the 2.5 in my rabbit at first but I really enjoy it now with a cheap intake and GTI exhaust. The mk6's have longer gearing which helps with fuel economy. My mk5 a bit too high strung. Oh and you can hack the shifter down about 1-1/2" if you want without any ill effects.

Looks pretty sweet. It will come out after the new gti/golf arrives in the US... so who knows when and even if it will have a manual. (it should) So in a couple years I might pick one up.
