Shawn89
I'm looking for a shop to put a set if 3.73s in an s10 ss. I don't want to risk doing it myself and tearing the gears up. So does anyone know where I can take it and cost?

Shawn89
Ips and pretty sure they are still price matching I wouldn't mind ips doing it, if they could do it on a weekend. Just because there kinda far from me now. Unless they can do it early morning and be done by noon lol.

vonrottes
Go to Babbitt, my dad had a lot of stuff done on his race car by them a few years back. Never had any problems.
Shawn89
Honestly would it be worth changing them to a 3.73 from the stock 3.42? For right now i'm sticking with the 4.3. I was thinking 3.73 and a tune.

Nickey4271647545519
What transmission? All the S10 SS were 4L60e.

DKilbourne
If you don't want to travel far and want good work and reasonable price, go to Babbit. Gary will take care of you. It's on Frank Rd just east of 62.

I was thinking 3.73 and a tune. Depending on tire size and goals I might suggest 4.10s or even 3.90s, because with the 4L60 highway cruising it will be doable. Iirc S10 SSs had about a 26 inch tall tire which might make the 4.10s too much for most people. I am of the opinion that going from 3.42 to 3.73 is not even worth the effort, let alone having to pay for it.
hpfiend
Babbit- Gary narrowed and welded an 8.8 for us and it turned out great!

Yeah it'll put you in the 26-27 inch tall tire range, 4.10s would be a little much for a lot of people on the street. Making it cruise about 3500rpm or so on the highway. I still don't think going to 3.73s from 3.42s is worth it though imho.

Also, look for a good reputable 4x4 shop. Those guys eat and sleep gearing.
Rustlestiltskin
4.10 or bust
Shawn89
I'll look for a set if 3.90s im not sure about 4.10s because I will be doing some highway driving. Right now at 70mph im at less than 2500rpm if I remember correctly.
