Geeesammy
Well... After little bit of debating I got a new shell. It hasn't been wrecked to hell and back and I got a good deal on it. This is the first Mk3 I've seen with all vin tags matching indicating absolutely no wreck. (And by good deal I mean I basically bought the coilovers and bought a freshly repainted car with a repainted bay for free, not to mention multiple body harness's and duplicates of things I already had duplicates of...) 1988 Originally a 7MGTE car with a 5 speed Was a Cali car until 2005 or so Previous owner bought it from a friend, did a lot of work, 90 body harness, shaved hood emblem and headlight cleaners, spoiler was deleted and holes filled, 89.5+ tail lights and exterior trim loads of other random stuff I'll post up later. I wanted to stay with the white car, but decided to part ways with it for a few reasons -If I am going to be tracking it I'd prefer not to have something that has a beat out core support -I found out after finding this roller that the front subframe is twisted slightly when I started tearing things off -It is the shitty Toyota white, it just never seems to look right even when cleaned and detailed correctly -Rusty-ish, just enough surface rust to make everything a pain in the ass. OH, I forgot to mention this is a hardtop so it is even lighter than the white car :lolguy: Here are some pics, the first is mine, rest are from a potato phone or whatever, I'll get more pics up tomorrow. I can't thank BrianZ06 enough for taking up the better part of his day to help me out by driving his truck down to the location of Sean's (Crosslee) trailer which he was very gracious to let me borrow on a very short notice and then down to Obetz and back to where the car is being stored. http://i.imgur.com/1fCTEPM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/XpkLhRn.jpg http://i.imgur.com/MNIGtof.jpg

Aaron
Nice, like the color. Hopefully this is the motivation you need to get this thing running! Good luck.
zeitgeist57
That is definitely a better looking Supra to start...though I am surprised as the other one looked great when I saw it a couple of summers ago at QS&L... Good luck, Samsonite! Get this thing driving by Spring of 2016. You've got 2-3 months...
EssFo
That does look like a much better candidate than the white car. Congrats.
Geeesammy
The white car isn't bad, it would make for a good drift car or track slut. I was more into just having something that was stupid fast and didn't care about looks before. Now I want something a little more reasonable that looks not quite mint but at least like it was taken care of. Not to mention the resale on the white car would be shit due to the rebuilt title. I learned my lesson and didn't lose much money so it is what it is.
Geeesammy
Did some things Ripped out the entire interior of the white car, found some interesting rust so this was for the better. Planning on using that in the new roller. Also had to pull the dash, switch wiring harness from the 92 dash since it is canadian to the 90 wiring that is in the 88...confusing but it works. Also had to play mix and match with the gauge clusters, speedo from this, odo from that, etc. Worked out perfect in the end. The dash in the roller has a pretty bad crack above the gauge cluster and the cluster looked like it had been shot through. Some pics Start http://i.imgur.com/drq5ZwM.jpg Middle http://i.imgur.com/i2sWRci.jpg End http://i.imgur.com/f8tMRAD.jpg Also sold my Megasquirt, buying ProEFI 128 next week or the week after I hope. Geeesammy
I've done a lot, haven't got many pics though. New dash is in, just troubleshooting loads of electrical gremlins on the body side of things. No turn signals, brake lights stuck on, no headlight relay click. Few other things. A friend of mine works with his father at their family's aerospace machine shop. I worked out a deal with him involving some mint rare trim pieces from my 1992, in turn he made me some billet mounts and made me some brackets. These are pretty sweet to me, figured some on here would like do see what all goes into something like this. I feel almost like a dick for asking for them now that I know how much really goes into them. Probably just another day for him, this would take me weeks and not look anywhere near it. Geeesammy
Not sure if this is an early or late Christmas, but now I can put the engine in and get my shimless buckets ordered. http://i.imgur.com/SHTziaR.jpg Edited February 13, 2016 by Geeesammy
Geeesammy
Well this is the end of the white car. http://imgur.com/a/nQplE The first pic is of the right side, near the hood hinge, the welds separated from where the car had been hit hard. This car should have never been driven again.
Geeesammy
Got my ProEFI in http://i.imgur.com/tzoOUCC.jpg Hoping to start rewiring my old megasquirt harness this weekend. Need to remove resistor box for injectors, add in 5v ref for Coolant Pressure, Fuel Pressure, Manifold air pressure sensor and re-pin/plug my IAT sensor for the GM sensor I am running, also adding in an oil temp sensor. Geeesammy
ugh you done yet? You will love those stage 2 cams. Not yet, resealing the engine, painting the block, ordering shimless buckets and some other stuff and then throwing it all together and hopefully then... This came in today, Drewgo manifold. Not many were made and they are pretty hard to come by now. Little better than my Chinese eBay special I had, still nothing too crazy though. Runners are a little bigger, wont have to run a spacer, flange is thicker and fits SO much better and overall it is 2.5-3 times heavier. I mainly liked this design due to the wastegate placement since I plan on recirculating mine, the old manifold seemed like it would be impossible to make that happen and the turbo placement compared to most manifolds out there. Turbo seems to sit a little lower and further forward which helps tuck the FMIC piping down. Yes, the pictures are terribad. My camera hates the lighting in both pics. http://i.imgur.com/uDGVRDm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/veyhgez.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ycberLU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/soLbxNr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2ZHZwbE.jpg

Geeesammy
Been busy with this thing. Just seems like hours spent with no progress made right now. Started late last night with getting the pan off http://i.imgur.com/MDdwAmB.jpg Whats that..... http://i.imgur.com/6EAR96C.jpg Looks like it was part of the grommet for the PCV valve that broke off and fell into the pan when I first got the car. Thought I got all of it off when I pulled the valve covers then but guess not. http://i.imgur.com/5vUywX9.jpg I prepped the block for paint today. Lot of sanding and grinding, loads of surface rust since it is old and has seen a winter. http://i.imgur.com/fz8XzF4.jpg One coat http://i.imgur.com/GqlxYbd.jpg Many coats later http://i.imgur.com/FSGg5UA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/olfyUW6.jpg Got some high grade flanged bolts for the motor mount brackets, threw on some thread locker since I don't want to deal with this engine again for awhile. Paint is satin, my garage was pretty bright and the paint was still a little wet. Cleaned out the upper and lower pans and windage tray. Also sprayed two cans of brake clean worth into the spark plug galleys with the engine upside down to get all the nasty of 20+ years out. Putting on a new water pump and all new gaskets and then putting the engine in...hopefully next weekend, maybe tomorrow.
Geeesammy
Brief update I've spent 16 hours or so swapping in my 92 harnesses into the new shell, not getting tail, brake, dash, interior, marker lights. I spent some time diagnosing stuff but narrow'd it down to a junction block that is discontinued so I had to source a full set of 1988 harnesses. Got them in the mail yesterday hoping to get them in tomorrow. Hopefully it all works, if not that may be the end of this. Sick of dumping time and money into it. Geeesammy
That sucks, So I take it the car will not be ready for trails tomorrow? made a lot of progress though. You wear a suit to work so you must be smart, figure it out. We made a 20$ bet a little bit ago, that I would beat his supra at the track day tomorrow against my grand marquis. Not trolling, just asking. :masturboy: You are the same guy trying to save $5 on Xbox live so maybe I should paypal you the cash since $20 is obviously a shit load to you. Hope Grant chokes you out then feeds you your own toe nails. You couldn't pay me enough to touch those things with a 10' stick. have you checked a your ground points? Ive seen one ground being off make a lot of items not work. Yeah, I've checked all grounds and wires leading to them at least 10 times now. I know for sure something is wrong with the integration relay, I have signal coming down from the combination switch, through the harness, to the retractor control box, out of the retractor control, to the integration relay but not back out of it to go into the taillight relay which runs all the mention lights, also my defrost relay being in or out plays games with my door buzzer so I'm certain something within it is toast. The frustration I have mounted with this car is almost peaked so attempting a repair on it at this point would be futile as I'm not sure I could continue on if I bothered pulling it all out only to have it not fixed or something else arise. Maybe this winter I'll try to fool with it but for now I'm done
