Uh... what?

In the article 1st

"Schumacher was in a coma when he arrived at the University Hospital Center of Grenoble and required immediate brain surgery, hospital officials said in a written statement." ,

But slightly below that is

"He was conscious but in shock when he arrived in the hospital. To be able to determine the exact causes of the accident, we have to wait for a police report.".

Theres also this

""He was alone and he wore a helmet. He hit his head on a rock," Gernignon-Lecomte said."

Then this below again,

""We ask for understanding that we cannot give continuous information about his health. He was wearing a helmet and was not alone. For his fall, no other person was involved."

Man this article is confusing.

The cnn article seems to pull blurbs from this UK Reuters article

* Schumacher suffers head injury while skiing in France

* Seven-times Formula One champion taken to hospital (adds details)

LYON, France, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Retired seven-times Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher suffered a head injury in a fall while skiing off-piste in the French Alps resort of Meribel on Sunday.

The 44-year-old German was wearing a helmet and was conscious while being transported to a local hospital in Moutiers, the resort director, Christophe Gernigon-Lecomte, told Reuters.

Schumacher was transferred to a better-equipped medical unit in Grenoble for further examinations and an FIA source said he had been placed under the care of Professor Gerard Saillant, a brain and spine injury expert.

Saillant is a close friend of Schumacher's and his former Ferrari team chief Jean Todt, who is now President of the FIA.

Le Dauphine Libere newspaper reported on its website that Schumacher's condition had worsened and that his life was now endangered. It did not disclose its sources.

Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm was unable to give any further information about his condition but confirmed he was on a private ski trip and had not been alone.

Gernigon-Lecomte said Schumacher, who has a vacation home in Meribel, had been skiing off piste.

"He fell around 11:00 am and hit a rock with his head," he added.

"It seems that he has suffered a head trauma, but I would not say how serious it is. He was conscious but very agitated while being taken to hospital."

The article they are referring to in German papers is highly speculative. It's a fear article- no news, so we'll make news kinda deal. They have no info from his doctors stating they are worried.

Hammond was in a coma for like three weeks after his wreck

Hamster!

Looks like they just upgraded his condition today. Still not good news, but not bad news either.

They are trying to wake him- confirmed by his manager

UPDATED JAN 30, 2014 7:30 AM ET

FRANKFURT, GERMANY (AP)

Michael Schumacher's manager says doctors have started the process of bringing the former Formula One champion out of the coma he has been in since a skiing accident a month ago.

The German was skiing in the French Alpine resort of Meribel on Dec. 29 when he fell and hit the right side of his head on a rock.

Since then he has been in an induced comas in Grenoble University Hospital.

His manager Sabine Kehm says in a statement Thursday that ''Michael's sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take long time.''

I read that too. Basically he'd never recover while under the medically-induced coma due to diminished levels of oxygen to the brain...quite frankly, I'm glad to hear that they are going to try to revive him despite the risks.

I hope this works without giving him a stroke or killing him in the process. :(
