Mallard
Is that a vinyl wrap? My friend Alex did the same to his Solstice and it turned out pretty good. I'm interested to see someone try the pearl Plasty Dip though.
BrianZ06
That is going to look nice when it's all done. You will definitely have a one of a kind C5 Z06 and having everyone ask you is that an original color ???
2highpsi
Is that Lamborghini balloon white? Gonna look great!
JuicedH22
Thanks! And to answer a couple questions: yes I am keeping the roof black for now. May change it later if I end up not liking it. The color is satin pearl white and it is a wrap. 'Kind' of like balloon white, but not as pure white in tone as that. And while it is a wrap, it's being done as best as possible to make it look as close to paint as I can, which is why all the panels were removed. So I dont have to worry about some potential issue that I may or may not have thought about?
JuicedH22
In other news, its getting there. I decided after seeing it, I need to wrap the mirrors as well. Clean it up, get some better pics, put on some of my decals, and its ready for now. Near future will be adding side skirts and world challenge front bumper and splitter, and removable rear wing. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/Juicedh22/zo6ftw/6C693722-6BFB-42C3-A8B9-C9C553CB2E86_zpsuextqk4n.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/Juicedh22/zo6ftw/2DFB0346-C63C-4693-9443-CF7066E95899_zpslvubv1no.jpg http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c318/Juicedh22/zo6ftw/E615DDDD-1765-489F-8ED4-4ADBE0B2FEFD_zpsuucztrfr.jpg

Farkas
How's about you inform me? So I dont have to worry about some potential issue that I may or may not have thought about? Well, I have a good friend in Florida who has been wrapping cars professionally for about 5-6 years now. He primarily sticks to 3M products, but there are times he will use other products at the request of the customer. I had a car that was 3M wrapped by him spring of 2012 and by end of the year I was removing it for various reasons. The biggest issue I found was the fact that over time the wrap will continually shrink due to heat/sun. This means edges will begin to lift and small seams you carefully molded the wrap to, will also lift. The vinyl itself is incredibly easy to take care of, but 3M's estimated life expectancy of the vinyl is overstated. I never had this issue, but he said depending on color, he's seen people come back in 1-2 years to have their car re-wrapped due to odd discoloration and staining... even mold. He makes each of his customers sign a waiver stating that he isn't liable for any damage to paint due to the application of vinyl, and I understood why once I tried to remove mine- It's awful. I spent many hours trying to peel away vinyl off my car, which left me with raw and bloody fingers. There's no easy way other than patience. I found out that the car had been repainted at one point because the vinyl pulled the paint entirely off the hood and fender of my car. The rest of the original single stage paint had some etching in areas, otherwise it was fine. In my opinion and for what it's worth... never again. Not worth the cost or trouble. A lot of people have better experiences, but I can't suggest people wrap their car with my personal experience.
JuicedH22
Well, I will be sure to consider that and look out for it! Sounds like a bad experience for sure! I know two of my friends had the same company wrap their cars, both over a year ago. One of htem does a lot of track days/weekends, and his wrap has held up great, still looks as new as the day installed. He DID have to have the front splitter re-wrapped (and I think the front bumper, but cant remember) after he had an off course adventure...
