SA-HT940 Main Unit: The SA-HT940 is the control center of the system and includes a 5-disc carousel-style DVD/CD changer with a built-in amplifier, Dolby Digital/DTS decoder, and digital AM/FM tuner.

 

Surround Modes: This receiver incorporates a variety of surround modes to bring you maximum enjoyment from your audio and video software. The surround modes include:

 

Dolby Digital

Dolby Pro Logic II (Movie, Music)

DTS

Surround Music: sound fills the room and comes from all directions with equal intensity

Sound Field Control:

Flat: no effect added, 2-channel only

Movie: for movie soundtracks, 5-channel

Sport: simulates stadium atmosphere, 5-channel

Music: adds surround effect to stereo recordings, 5-channel

Heavy; adds punch to rock music, 2-channel only

Clear: clarifies high frequencies, 2-channel only

Soft: for background music, 2-channel only

Center Focus: Using this feature, you can make the sound of the center channel seem like it's coming from the TV.

 

Sleep Timer: The sleep timer switches the unit off after a specified amount of time. The sleep timer can be set to 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes.

 

Line Inputs: This unit features two pair of stereo RCA audio inputs, TV and AUX.

 

Music Port: You can easily connect a portable player (MP3, iPod, etc) into the 3.5mm (1/8") Music Port input on the front panel.

 

Headphone Jack: The main unit features a 3.5mm (1/8") mini-jack headphone output on the front panel for private listening. When headphones are used the speakers are muted automatically.

 

Optional Wireless Speakers: The Panasonic SH-FX60 (item number 133SHFX60) is available as an accessory to create a wireless rear speaker system. The SH-FX60 includes an amplifier for the rear speakers with a 2.4 GHz RF receiver, it will still be wired to the rear speakers and an AC outlet, but not to the main system across the room. A digital transceiver card plugs into the back of the DVD player/receiver which turns off the rear amp and turns on the RF transmitter.

 

HDMI Control (HDAVI): HDAVI is a convenient function that offers linked operations of the receiver and a compatible Panasonic TV through the HDMI connection. The HDAVI control allows for One Touch Playback where the Receiver and TV will turn on at the same time and automatically switch to the appropriate input for playback. When the TV is turned off, the receiver also automatically turns off.

 

DVD Features

 

Video D/A Converter: This player uses a 108MHz/12-bit video digital-to-analog converter. This high-bit, high sampling D/A converter helps to reduce digital artifacts to give you a better picture.

 

Audio D/A Converter: This unit includes an audio digital-to-analog converter capable of providing 192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit resolution. The 192kHz/24-bit and 96kHz/24-bit capabilities of this unit allow it to play DVD Video discs with 96kHz/24-bit audio tracks and DVD-Audio discs with sampling rates of 192kHz.

 

HDMI Output: This unit has an HDMI terminal (ver 1.2a) which will output 480p video or up-converted 1080i or 720p video to your HDTV from the built-in DVD player. It will also output linear PCM digital audio signals. The HDMI output is compatible with HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection). When the HDMI output is turned on, the component video output is 480p, if HDMI is turned off the component video output can be switched to 480i.
