BloodRed
It is not like the NFL. You should have access to all the games except Columbus Blue Jacket games no matter if it is a sell out or not.
Supplicium
you could look into a VPN service like ExpressVPN. Has mobile and desktop apps to change your location to 40+ countries or a dozen cities in the US.
ShowHBK
There is an extension to Chrome that I use to get around this called "Hola". Just remember to disconnect from Hola when your done. Speed has never been an issue for me and I watch CBJ games in HD on Gamecenter. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/unlimited-free-vpn-hola/gkojfkhlekighikafcpjkiklfbnlmeio?hl=en In the event you want to watch CBJ games in another way. The website below is a good stream site for the most part. Make sure you have an adblock plus or equivalent installed because the streams have 4-5 adverts on top of them that will need closed. http://www.stream2watch.co/sports/hockey

All local games are blocked because of advertising rules. They want you to watch on TV so their ad partners feel like their investment is worthwhile. Thats what we would use (or the Xbox) to stream the game to the TV.

No such thing as a dumb question Do you have a laptop or other Windows based device with a WiFi connection? if so, Chrome for Windows has a Chromecast extension you can use with Hola and just mirror your laptop to the TV. I do this every now and then and as long as the WiFi is decent you will not get buffering. If you don't have those things then you would need to find a website that works on another device to stream to your Chromecast. Your Xbox would need a valid GCL subscription or it will not work. As far as I know the Xbox does not have Chromecast support. Let me know if this helps.
ShowHBK
As far as setting one up... how comfortable do you feel with doing something like that? Hola takes care of everything for you so there is no P.H.D. required. If you want to get adventurous, here is a link to a guide on setting up a VPN connection to WiFi devices in your home
