Smokey
Can't say I've heard of the Mid Ohio Sports Car Club, but I've been going to the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course since I could walk. I also don't normally shorten it to letters though either. So since we're already side-tracked, tell me more about the club?

super_usdm
Thanks yenner. Yea... accounting field; moreso auditing and audit procedure, rather than debits and credits. As far as interests outside of cars, I like to snowboard and cycle (mtb & road) when I find the time. Just recently bought my first dirt bike (crf230) and have been having fun with that. Also bought a house last year so that has taken up most of my free time recently. I'm working on getting a job lined up at the moment and will be out there again next Friday for an interview, so hoping that pans out. A little more about myself: turned 30 in July, getting married in June next year, have two mini-dachshunds and a nile monitor, looking to buy a house with a garage in German Village, or somewhere close to short-north and that area. Mid-Ohio - noted Glad to hear it is a top-20 track.
POS VETT
Ugh, not German Village or Short North. I'm unsure why you picked those, but if you were a typical auto enthusiast like half of us here, you would probably loathe those areas. mrs.cos
Welcome! Great into. Subaru scene here I is a bit different from Cali, but still a good active scene. When will you be relocating? Have you picked out your first set of snow tires?

I'm unsure why you picked those, but if you were a typical auto enthusiast like half of us here, you would probably loathe those areas. Mainly because the wife and I want to put ourselves within walking distance of good food and drink options. But I am interested in hearing the cons of living in that vicinity if you care to share. We bought our house here in CA about 20 mins outside of town and miss being closer to places to relax, eat and drink for hours on end. Welcome! Great into. Subaru scene here I is a bit different from Cali, but still a good active scene. When will you be relocating? Have you picked out your first set of snow tires? Thanks! The Subaru scene in Sacramento has never been very good. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and the car scene there was way better than in Sacramento. To make matters worse, now that the price of 1st gen US WRXs has come down so much, the Subaru 'scene' pretty much consists of mud flaps, hella horns, and sidewayz exhaust pipes. I am hoping to be an OH resident by the end of the year. The only snow tires I've ever owned are Nokians and was planning to check out their current line. Check out Grandview Heights, about as close to downtown as you can get for a separate municipality, cool little uptown area with lots of food/drink options, 2 square miles, great home values and schools. RyM3rC
Check out Grandview Heights, about as close to downtown as you can get for a separate municipality, cool little uptown area with lots of food/drink options, 2 square miles, great home values and schools. Grandview is nice, in many ways the younger trendier (but just as expensive) Upper Arlington. The police there are EXTREMELY sensitive, and will write tickets for no front plates and hassle you late at night. German Village has LOL streets- brick and wavy/jacked up, not to mention parking on the street will get your car broken into. Finding places with big racer-friendly garages in the short north will be $$$ compared to some burbs, but you know your priorities better than anyone. super_usdm
Thanks guys I'll check out Grandview. Wherever we end up a two car garage is a must, would like to find something with addtl off-street parking too.

Wherever we end up a two car garage is a must, would like to find something with addtl off-street parking too. Two car garages in German Village and Short North are very hard to come by without $$$$. A lot in German Village don't even have a garage. I live in the poor area of GV Heights aka "down the hill." Most houses have access to an alley. I have a detached one car garage and two off street parking spaces but a small back yard.
super_usdm
Welp. We ended up finding a house to rent just outside Grandview, off of N 5th. Thanks for the recommendation guys. The house has a 1.5 car garage and a good size basement so it will do just fine. Plus there's an e85 station on N High that's not far. At this point I'm still in CA. The plan is I will be driving cross-country mid-January, in a 2wd 4runner towing my wrx, in the middle of winter. I'm still on the fence on whether that's a recipe for disaster, even if I plan for the weather.
99StockGT
Welcome to CR! You'll certainly be in a whole different world from Sac, though with how this winter is going who knows. As far as the Scoobie/Snowboarding goes Mad River Mt and Snowtrails are you two best bets but it's nothing like what you are used to being close to real mountains. Sorry to say but that's a huge downer for those of us who enjoy sliding down earthen mounds. Central Ohio Subarus Facebook group is a good place to network/socialize as well if you haven't found that yet. Enjoy your trip cross country, I've done that drive a few times towing things and it can be quite exciting!
BigOxley
Nice! Let me know if you need any recommendations on places to go / not go.
super_usdm
Thanks for the welcome 99StockGT. I am only getting up the hill a few times a year at this point, so I'm okay with an annual winter trip to Denver or BC to get my fix I'm hoping to find something new to fill that void or just go nuts on the car, now that emissions testing isn't a factor. Will do BigO. I'm hoping to get more active on here once things settle down and I imagine I'll have lots of questions about the City once we do some exploring. And this board seems like a great place to ask for advice and meet some local enthusiasts. I'm actually sitting on a plane right now on my way to there to celebrate the new year. As it turns out I was able to get my Wrx loaded up on the moving truck for $300, off the books, so that's a relief. In fact, it's already waiting for me in Columbus; if I manage to get the front bumper back on and convince the lady to go to a car meet, I might check out C&C.
