I was able to pick it up and fly right away. For some reason I see alot of people who cannot though. what kind of photograpy are you wanting to do with it? I would like to do some action shots and video on the lake. I thought about just hiring someone since it would be really hard for me to do what I want to do and fly a drone at the same time.
